We Bought a $300 Alienware Gaming Laptop….

Normally we get really lucky with older Alienware systems that end up having a good amount of life left in them. Today we look at a DUAL graphics card Alienware desktop… Should this one have just been a relic of the past?

  2. Fun fact Gibraltar (the name on the box the laptop shipped in) is a music store near where I live, They've been around since the 1980's and mainly sells drums and drum accessories but they also sells microphones and Dj stands.

  3. Battery only only last 1 to 1.5hrs at best drivers still available usually get them from dell. I’ve had it since it came out still have mine. Mxm upgrading is possible but very challenging because of the screen you have.

  4. Great retro video guys! I remember considering selling a kidney for one of these back in 2009/2010 before good sense prevailed. Keep Toasty, Bros! ( Sorry about that, I'm from England )

  5. In 2011 I ordered a 17” R17M2. A 960Q @ 1.73GHz, dual 5870’s, two 500GB HDD’s, 16GB RAM. It was $3200. It was so heavy. But it could play. Expensive, but probably the lowest per-hour cost entertainment I’ve ever purchased. And I used it until 2019.

  6. You guys should do like public videos or something. Like something different cause at this point you've been doing the same thing for years I doubt your excited about making these videos. At this point I just click to leave a dislike

  7. I have a later M17x R4 which actually has an HDMI input so you can connect a game console to play on the internal screen. It's also got dual 256gb SSDS in RAID 0 from the factory and 16gb of ram. Iirc the battery life was actually not bad when it was new and yes the original power adapter did have the little power light on it.

Mine was fairly loaded and worked extremely well for years. Still does actually though its in my closet. I've mulled selling it though

Was actually a good laptop. Even technically has upgradeable graphics (I believe you can get and put a 980M in it) as they're on a card, it takes a bit of work but is doable

  8. i remember seeing this exact model in Hong Kong while having vacation. Bought a 17 R3 (i7 6700HQ + 980m 4gb) 2016 to scratch the itch. That 6700HQ undervolted really well. Sadly, had to sell it for some reasons.

  9. I swore never to purchase another Alienware product. I purchased a R15 gaming laptop and the hard drive was gone within months. I then replaced it with an SSD. Then right at the year anniversary the screen went black. I contacted Alienware and they immediately let me know the warranty was over, but they would be glad to check it for $30 not counting shipping. After I let them know how crappy their service was, I took it to a local tech, who checked it for free. He told me the motherboard was gone, and he highly advised me not to replace it, and to stay away from Alienware. Now the damn thing just sits in a corner of my room because I don't want to throw it away. I paid a lot of money for this trash.
