  1. I think the reason Salt week and MLD week feel like good games compared to what you would expect is because everyone is building their decks to be that way. So its not like theres one MLD deck in a pod of regular decks that arnt built to handle their lands being blown up which is where the salt comes from.

Very fun game, it was hilarious how quickly everything snowballed out of control.

  2. Seth not rogue's passaging hazazon was definitely a punt IMO. Richard absolutely could have cracked his dessert to make his commander blockable, and he would have only taken 14 damange.
Using rogues passage on his commander ensures that he can deal exactly 16 damage to richard with his blockers (including the axe). exact lethal, assuming no removal.

The trampe on the 4/4's basically make them not worth blocking compared to his 2/2, 2/7 and 3/3

  3. I have no issue with mass land destruction because it’s the only balance to all the land ramp decks out there. Every archetype has another archetype that is it’s balance. But because everyone hates land destruction that makes land ramp decks overpowered and way too common.

  4. I have always been interested in an anti-theme deck, kind of like Richard's Green spellmage control deck. Artifact Creatures where there is no supporting non-creature artifacts and no non-artifact creatures. Aura's but only non-creature enchanting auras. Lifegain, but with no creatures. Go wide blue, etc. Taking an archetype and stripping away what makes it broken.

  5. I think tomers deck was an interesting, just not really fitting the pod because of the high mana curve but the idea of "leave just enchantments" is pretty cool. If the other decks weren't all MLD it would probly be able to do that gameplan.

  6. @goldfishcrew it makes me sad that you don't appriciate the "clash on" phrase. It's part of the the Brand at this point and i think it would strengthen it even more if you would embrace it instead of being kinda ashamed by it.

  7. Tomer getting roasted every episode for not playing that week’s theme, or playing Kiki Jiki, or enchantress, will never not be funny, especially when Richard half the time doesn’t play the theme either 😅… Poor guy 😅

  8. great episode. any chance we are going to get an ixalan set CC. i know without the commander deck cards the options are way more limited and its not like it needs to be tribal or anything

  9. I'm relatively new to magic and don't know if it would be an interesting theme, but you could try one-shotting, where you have to kill a player with only one creature/combat

  10. Partly it's that you guys are good players and can think beyond your game plan getting disrupted, instead of just not wanting to play any more. And partly, yeah, it's that you're all doing it by agreement and you've built decks to both do the salty things, and try to mitigate it to some degree.

But, interaction in all it's forms explicitly exists to un-clog board states; either giving someone a distinct advantage, or allowing someone to hang on long enough to build their own distinct advantage. It tends towards decision making, particularly in Commander where there's three times as many threat sources, and that's more interesting.

  11. Honestly this has kinda sold me on MLD ultimately being a force for good in commander? So long as you play it with a plan!! That said, I think arguably the best MLD commander is Will, Scion of Peace – He provides a HUGE discount on all of your spells, depending on how much life you've gained! All you gotta do is establish a few cheap lifelink creatures, get Will out, and start dropping stuff like Baneslayer Angels, or Lyra! And you can even do it on the same turn you Armageddon, because geddon is 1 mana!!! Nothing quite like blowing up all the lands whilst you have a 2 mana Hullbreacher in play >:)

  12. creatures can't be equipped to other creatures. My friend used to play a sydri deck, and one of his favorite plays was turning people's swiftfoot boots or lightning greaves into creatures so they would fall off. Reconfigure sorta changed how those specific equipment work (they lose the creature type when they are reconfigured) but I think you could still make the same play Karn play with those.
