Episode 7 is definitely a bit slow, I agree, but 8 and 9 are REALLY good!!! There’s an interesting theory of exactly why Stan threw the party, but i won’t say cuz, spoilers, duh. I’m so glad you’re still giving this show a chance and pushing through!

like you've prolly heard from a lot of people already, Gravity falls is kind of a slow burn. Season 1's mostly episodic, and light-hearted despite some of the darker underlaying themes. However, near the end of season 1 (episode 18 to 20 i believe), the show makes it clear it's done goofing around, and gets a lot more serious plot-wise. Season 2's the main reason imo why people seem to love this show so much. Believe me, Gravity falls season 2's one of my favourite things on earth, which is coming from someone who actually kind of desliked most of season 1. So i def recommand sticking around for the wild ride, if you love The owl house, you're prolly like season 2 a lot as well.
as for today's secret messages (i've commented somthing about them with more info on the episode 5 reaction i believe) they're "Paper Jam dipper says: "Auughwxqhgadsadsaduh" for the end credits one and "switch a to Z" in the backwards intro whisper
the majority of the lore starts on episode 19 of season 1
Season one mainly focuses on introducing characters, villains, and the craziness of the town. But it does throw in foreshadowing and hints for the finale and season 2. And 95 percent of everything your seeing in S1, does come into play for the finale that gives a good closure to the show. If it helps, try looking for anything suspicious or hints, bc there's plenty to find until you get to the plot focused season 2.
It never fails, every time a Disney character makes copies of his or herself, they always turn on each other, eventually.
This episode is very popular, and it has a great message about not letting life be lived though meticulous lists, but likewise, not one of my favorites despite the fun premise.
