Let's remember the many lawsuits Trump and other state AGs will raise concerning section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Every state that puts its name on the ballot will be sued to have it removed, and every AG that doesn't will be sued by Trump to put it on. The more AGs who follow the law, the more lawsuits Trump will have to fund against them.
Here is the 3rd section of the 14th amendment exactly:

Trump is not qualified to serve as President. It's really that simple. The constitution could not be clearer. Anyone who supports or gives comfort or aid to insurrectionists becomes ineligible to hold ANY federal office. McCarthy and McDonnel gave speeches in the days after the insurrection in which they admitted that Trump was responsible. Anyone who doesn't consider his actions as participating and giving comfort and aid to the thugs who ransacked our capital needs to have their head examined. But this isn't a partisan issue, it is a matter of constitutional law. Even with the current makeup of the Supreme Court, it isn't easy to imagine they could let that pass.
In a way, this lets Republicans off the hook for their immoral support of Trump. They can finally free themselves from having to answer their children's questions about why they let a bad man ascend to the highest office in the land.
