WATCH | Mackenzie Shirilla verdict announced: Strongsville woman charged in deadly 2022 crash

The verdict is in for 19-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla.

The Strongsville woman, who faces multiple charges in connection with a deadly crash that killed two people last summer, is due back in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court as Judge Nancy Margaret Russo announces her decision in the case at 1 p.m.

The verdict’s announcement comes just a few days after closing arguments were made in the bench trial last week.

It’s a case that dates back to Sunday, July 31, 2022, when Strongsville police say the crash happened at 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of Progress and Alameda. Upon their arrival, officers say they located a Toyota Camry “with severe damage and full airbag deployments.”

All three occupants inside the vehicle – including Shirilla – were unconscious, not breathing and trapped inside the vehicle. 20-year-old Dominic Russo (Shirilla’s boyfriend) and 19-year-old Davion Flanagan were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Shirilla – who is accused of intentionally crashing the vehicle – faces multiple charges including murder, felonious assault and aggravated vehicular homicide.

The prosecution says Shirilla was going 100 miles per hour when she went off the road and crashed into a building.

  1. Who won here? She did. Her two friends lost at least 150 years together stole from them. But, they cannot cry, think, say, or breath for those years they lost. Even if she gets a life sentence, she will live, talk, eat, think, and time to time enjoy the rest of her life. She won. They lost.

  2. It's too late to cry ; you took out two lifes ; i hope she will in prison for life ; she must assumewhat she has done: take away two lives forever ; i don't have pity for her😡

  3. I feel sorry for all of them even her. She truly made a terrible awful choice in her life. . I hope that all will find some way to forgive and for her to ask God to forgive her. She has to pay the conquemces she is still loved by God. Even in the worst circumstance she needs to surrender her life to Christ and serve in prison. To help others till she dies there. We all fall short to the Glory of God. Hating her does not bring back them boys. She will suffer enough 😢

  5. Given how absolutely corrupt the criminal justice system has become, I wouldn't be surprised if this murderer ends up getting released BEFORE the 15 years are up! There's no real accountability for criminality and the system coddles criminals a lot – victims of crime be damned! A few years from now when this story will no longer be relevant in the public eye, some judge up there in ultra Leftist Cuyahoga county will issue a decree to have the she-killer released. Rinse and repeat. Nothing will fundamentally change with the corrupt, crime-mitigating and criminal-coddling justice system.

  6. Off the subject matter, I believe all kaw enforcement should be considered for annual checkups and a level of whats acceptable or not. Bailiffs don't see the action like street cops but they should be in better condition ❤

  7. The parents should take some responsibility. They raised her!
The problem with kids today is that they weren't taught about Jesus.
We need God every day! I hope this young girl finds the Lord in prison. If she does, it will be worth going to jail.

  8. She’s a woman ? That’s funny cause I hear everyone constantly referring to girls this age as little kids ? Unlesss they do something wrong or they wanna join the military then they are full grown adults that’ know better but if a 30 year old wants to date a willing 18 year old he’s a predator cause she’s a child 🤷🏻 explain the logic 🤯

  9. She murders two people and gets 15 to life, Henry Ruggs gets blind drunk, drives over 150 mph, kills a woman and he gets 3 to 10. WHAT is wrong with the Justice System. You get a harder sentence for drug possession.

  10. You can tell she doesn't give a shyt about what she did. She's crying because she's getting punished. If you're old enough to plan something that evil and take lives, you're old enough for the death penalty. Once a person admits to murder of an innocent person, life sentence should not be an option

  11. Entendre la juge lui annoncer la sentence pour les meurtres de deux jeunes hommes , j'ai l'impression que Mackenzie Shirilla a tué un autobus remplit de gens. Que d'accusations pour en rajouter à l'horreur qui est déjà immense .
