Watch Live: FL v. Trevor Summers – Dad On Trial For Kidnapping, Attempted Murder Of Mom Day 3

A man is accused of kidnapping his estranged then-wife and planning to kill them both in a murder-suicide. Trevor Steven Summers, 45, stands trial in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Summers allegedly kidnapped his wife in March 2017, authorities said in local reports. He tricked his children into letting him into her home, authorities have said, according to Fox 13 news.

“This was a man I trusted,” daughter Arden Summers said, according to the outlet. “This is a man who I thought could do no wrong and just to know that he used me to do what he wanted to do hurts more than anything.”

But no one was going to die in this case. The wife, now known as Alisa Mathewson, survived and remarried. She is expected to testify against her ex-husband.

Summers was expected to represent himself at trial, having gone through all his attorneys. He ostensibly split with his last one over difference of opinion on legal strategy, but he ended up on Monday walking back his decision to go pro se.

Mathewson had anticipated having to face cross-examination from the person she said terrorized her.

“As a victim, it’s a little scary, it’s a little intimidating,” she told the outlet in a previous report. “I have a lifetime protective order against him, and he’s going to be right in front of me, questioning me about the crimes he committed against me.”

Note: Summers walked back his decision to represent himself.

  3. they should invent some sort of woosh! appearing couch, that comes through the walls, on which the jurors are already sat. So they don't have to stumble in and out and avoiding each other's knees and chairs. It would save time. "All rise for the jury." WOOSH! "please sit."

  4. 6:53:16 Look at Defendants former lawyers reaction (he sits right behind him) when they listen to his first interview at the hospital where he talks about pulling out his Machete to make his ex stay and talk, as if that’s just his normal procedure LOL but holy crap..

  5. oh mannn, the video's and the letters –>Trevor was out of his mind. Truly psychological disturbed! That could have been a viable defence but his ego would not allow this 😀 What a pos

  6. Wooo-Weee, this fingerprint expert was so knowledgeable in his field and how he explained to the jury the different patterns of a fingerprint and what he looks for was absolutely brilliant! He was very concise in his explanation to the jury of the identifying pattern that what he looks for that there can be no doubt about his expertise. His older age and using a walker is deceiving as his mind is as sharp as a tack as you listen to his testimony. Just BRILLIANT!🍺😎🍺

  7. Of all the hundreds of trials I've watched THIS is the most ludicrous and BIZARRE I've ever watched! Made so because of this defense creature. I refuse to call it a man. I'm so relieved and happy this creature will be in a cage hopefully for the rest of his life.

questioned Summers is simply playing did we we / what date games with this ex wife .Diabolical he is allowed to ask recall / recall ?'s constantly .He has no remorse for his torture .Then as if that weren't enough he starts trouble in court ,Too silent and smarmy A terrible control freak .The prosecution is amazing and I admire her patience so much .As I said at the beginning I reiterate he is oh so creepy .

  9. @ Champ She is not being snotty she is protecting her emotions. We have no idea the trauma she experienced at his hands, and to have to face him is one thing. Being questioned by him has got to illicit emotions of anger and hatred. I think she did pretty well standing her ground, showing her strength and not allowing him to revictimize her again.

  10. concerning the interview in the hospital: the Behavior Panel often says that a narrative with chronical order is often a sign of deception. Somebody telling the truth often goes to core of the case. In this: I kidnapped her and hurt her. But he starts: it was a day in January that she started a dating profile.

  11. his interview at the hospital, he is minimizing his actions: I only cut her a little. It was more string than rope I tied her with. It was only a small utility knife. That shows knowledge he was in the wrong.

  12. This guy has to tie people up just to get them to listen to him. The sound of his voice and his nonstop droning on. I’d pray for NyQuil or suffocation. Just make him stop talking.

  13. Can you imagine being so self-absorbed and delusional, that you're questioning the authority of detectives to interview your children (that you just ABANDONED to kidnap and murder their mother) in your home??
The fact that he is more offended by them being in his home without his permission than anything else, speaks volumes to what he really cares about.
Dare a narcissist to make themselves the victim in ANY given situation, and they'll produce a narrative every single time.

  14. I'm convinced at this point, this guy either sincerely believed that if he just got ALL the details of all the injustices done to him, the jury would side with him, Or, he knows he's going to be found guilty and just wants to drag this out as long as humanly possible. He's spent 5 years dreaming of this day in his head and he doesn't care how many countless hours he steals from everyone in this court room.

  15. 7:25:00 Isn't there a big issue with him reading directly from his notes without permission and without looking up to give the answer? Or is it technically not an issue if opposing counsel does not object in the moment?
