LIVE: Keir Starmer in conversation with Gary Neville at Labour Party conference. Gary Neville has arrived at their Labour conference in Liverpool ahead of his speech this evening after slamming Tory tax cuts despite persistent allegations he was one of a number of footballers avoiding tax for years.
The former Manchester United and England defender has said that Liz Truss is ‘taking the absolute mickey out of us’ by cutting taxes for the wealthy and declared that having Sir Keir Starmer as prime minister would be ‘a change that cannot come quick enough’.
But critics pointed out that only this year, when Rishi Sunak was Chancellor, one of his main arguments against Boris Johnson’s government was that it was ‘hiking taxes to a post WW2 high’.
The multi-millionaire was also reportedly written to by HMRC 12 years ago over alleged tax avoidance when he was a footballer, where he earned an estimated £60,000-a-week.

I guarantee Neville didn't pay his 'fair share' of taxes. He will have used every accountancy trick in the book. Now, while this is completely legal and I have nothing against it.
