Was I too harsh on Hondas XL750 Transalp? Perhaps it’s more capable than I thought. But, what is your definition of adventure riding heavy twin cylinder bikes?
A 2WheelFreak visits Northumberland so I can have a second look at the Alp. What do you think?
Cheers for watching and your continued support 🤘#Motoeuro

It looks like a fantastic motorcycle. Used adventure bikes are very popular as well. They have often many miles on the clock indicating that their owners liked them. In May I bought a used naked motorcycle instead at a much lower price with much less miles on the clock. I'm 66 and do not expect doing jumps in the desert. I started motorcycle camping Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, France, Monaco and back in 1979. My girlfriend was passenger. We did not have a GPS or intercom, but used hand signals clapping and touching each other on the way. That was great! Almost ran out of money and slept in gardens and football pitches on our way back. This summer I just went on a two week solo spin to Harz and back. Good times.
Love your shirt. Where did you buy it?
It still takes a real man to swallow their pride and admit they were wrong.
Its also quite refreshing in the world today, well done.
I swapped my 1000cc Africa Twin for a Transalp. I definitely don’t regret this change. It’s lighter, just as quick, just as comfortable. I use it more than I used the heavier AT. I don’t don’t ride off road, I could have a road only bike, but I like the seating position of adventure bikes.
I don’t think you will ever be happy with any bike I still have my 2016 Africa twin and remember when you had yours I wouldn’t change it you must’ve had 5 since haha enjoy
I had versys 650 3 years. Then wanted something different. Took transalp for a test drive. That's what I've been looking for. Only thing I will miss is rebound adjustment, I used it. Waiting for 2025 model specs , then will decide which one to buy.
I recently switched from a CRF300L to a Transalp 750, I only did it for the comfort over long distances and the ability to carry a passenger. I lost the agility of the little 300 but I gained in many other things. Off road is not a priority in my case, but a possibility and always at moderate speeds. So I think I made the right choice and Transalp was not my passion, but the choice was based on reason. Greetings from Portugal.
I think that your KTM must be giving you KTM time and logic dictates to move to a more reliable bike. 😀
Si può fare anche questo con un Transalp 750 un po' preparato, volendo… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWIPJaNBmKA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RdHVRrDmZM
Hat down for the video. In the end I bought a v-strom800de… after a lot of thinking betwen these two bikes… but that doesn't mean anything for the future 😊 Stay open mind, and greethings from Serbia 🤗
Wait a minute, and how is your 790 doing? KTM seems to be taking responsibility for camshaft issues now, so it should give us some peace of mind… My 890 just went through 11k km service and all is good.. or at least that's what they told me…
Cheers!
A great bike…just a PITA to get to the airfilter which especially for riders spending the majority of their time on gravel. Check out Big Rock Moto's mods on the TA. He's fitted an aftermarket cruise control
You only give your honest review 🤦
I am not an aventure rider. I have just come back from a 3 week tour of the NC500. 3700kms starting from the Somme, in France, where I live, and back. The Transalp is just fantastic….for me. I quite understand the criticism of the bike. But, it's not a T7 or an Africa Twin.
Brought a TA for all the reasons it was designed for, despite changing the rear shock, it’s perfect for me.
I know Transalp. I took Tenere Explore recently and… I must say Tenere engine is way better. Unfortunately Tenere is so outdated and expensive.
It's not bad, it just could have been so much better, if Honda decided not to sacrifice it for the Africa Twin sales.
This June I bought a TA and put almost 6000 on it, mostly on long trips but also into the city. This weekend there was a lot of hubbub in town and roads were closed for protestors. And the packed roads were mine, lane splitting, hopping on and off the curb, light, easy and fast when needed. It is like riding my moped but with the power I always wanted without the weighty feel that I got used to on other bikes.
For long trips it works well, higher windscreen and some other accessories made this the ultimate touring bike for me. So yeah, it can do all I want it to do.
Finally someone put a beautiful sticker set on this bike! I saw this and that was the moment when I decided to buy one. I saw the stock colors so many times and it is just boring to me. I didn't like the front but with this stickers it is actually OK.
6:22 I'm sorry to disappoint but no major changes are coming sadly. I waited for a whole year hoping for Honda to give us tubeless tyres and secretly hoping they would update that horrible headlight taken from the CB500X but it isn't happening.
I was at my local Honda dealership yesterday and was shown photos of the 2025 Transalp Limited edition and given some details. They even asked me if I wanted to place an order as only 250 units will be available here in Spain but I refused. No tubeless tyres, no new headlight, no cruise control or anything like it at all. The "limited" edition of the 2025 model is basically white/light coloured bike with a whole lot of decals making it look like a baby Afrika Twin, and they throw in a bunch of extras like handguards, engine guard, belly pan etc. etc. which you could purchase separately anyway. Very disappointed as I was REALLY hoping Honda would gives us tubeless tyres if nothing else.
Hoping they come out with a 40th anniversary edition for 2026.
It,s great bike for sure but in Poland it,s little cheaper than T7 so the choise is obviously, T7!!
I have one new Transalp 750 XL,2024.
It is not good for longer ride as vibrations on the handles are making my fingers numb.I made short trip today,some,50 KM and,it is not right.Hopefully it is something with engine as bike is new and under waranty.I am sure Honda would not make this engine vibrating so bad.
Every bike out there is equally capable in the right Hands, its 80% rider and 20% bike, I know the Transalp it's a good machine but seeing it live at the showroom I know eventually it will feel heavy for me and I'm not near the skill level of the promotional video rider's. I know that if I get it reality will struck an remind me that certain tracks I won't be able to cross them 😅, it will eventually feel too heavy the seat height will be eventually a bit tall and I'm not Tony boe😅. What I want is something like my Beta Alp 200 (or was mine😢 sadly sold it) light at just 118kg wet , 12 inches of ground clearance a reliable 200cc engine and a reasonable 33 inch seat height, unfortunately the suspension was way too harsh for the road and the seat felt like sitting on a brick after 30min of riding.
Still waiting for the right bike.
Played at 1.25 speed is perfect.
Honda are excellent at marketing and over the years the have made a fortune selling small bikes to people who will never have an ambition to climb up the motorcycle hierarchy. I have always thought that the 500X and Transalp are well placed in the marketplace. They are serious adventure touring motorcycles for real world touring. They do exactly what people who do adventure touring need their motorcycle to do. The problem is more likely the image that YouTube influencers try to peddle, the rough tough world of pushing to the limit in the wild while wild camping and letting the testosterone rip. The real world is not like that. Adventure tourers do over 95% of their motorcycling on hard surfaces, the demand four star hotels and posh meals. They want motorcycles that look ready to take on anything but most of them cringe at the thought of mud and wet grass and cold or wet. Honda know this. They sell motorcycles which will take their clients where they want to go, comfortably, reliably and economically. They know the market and have built the bikes to match. Sure the testosterone fuelled wannabes will scorn the sensible option and buy T7s or 390 Adventures because they feel they must but they will never ride the roads where they believe their dream bike is needed. Me? I looked at and said no to the Transalp. My reasons were simple, Honda have already sold me the bike that fits my profile and (in the influencer’s opinion) a move up to a Transalp would remove two of the things that I find most impressive about the bike that I already own own so would be a backward step. Having owned the 500X for three years I have no intention in losing its fantastic fuel economy and range and through riding it I have come to appreciate riding a bike that can be ridden enthusiastically up to the legal and safe limits of the roads I use without having to hold back and worry about my licence for 99% of the time. Well done Honda for building the bikes that do the job that we need them to do. They might not be the dream machines that YouTube tells us that we need but in the end they’re a better proposition thanvany of those.
An adventure bike is NOT enduro or dirt biker regardless of the promotional videos with professional rider doing rehearsed feats of impossibility to 99.9 precent of it's owners. It's a road/off road compromise that's capable of getting you to your destination regardless of the surface. The Transalp 750 is a balance between cost/weight/suspension/power as a middle weight adventure bike contender. US government EPA diluted the bike performance by removing 7.5 hp from the 91 hp at the crank. Wasn't long after the bike was introduced that American tuning shops had the 752cc engine producing in the upper 80s hp performance. I had my Transalp 750 ECU tuning up, that 752 cc motor now produces 88.7 hp at the wheel. Add a Canadian company $300 cruse control, and the bike is golden.
I just returned from a day ride in the red clay greasy hills of Gympie, S.E. Queensland. The only bike left standing was the Transalp. The DRZ 400 with knobby wheels went down twice and the the other one, with road oriented tyres, multiple times. The front suspension needs work, as i launched it off washouts, it smashed through its stroke with a bang. The rear, though soft, held its own. Disengage the TC, lower the power to prevent unwanted wheel spin, and let it lead the way. And this was with the stock karoo streets. With the right tyres and a subtle hand, it will get you into trouble, and out. That front suspension needs work though. It's not my old KTM 790, but it goes most of the places it did, just a bit slower. And it's miles better on road. I'm hanging onto it.
Just needs tubeless wheels for my consideration…
Air filter, electronics everytime you turn off the key… i think you will regret soon…
I understand your state of mind, cause i also own a KTM, but in the end of the day i think i woudn´t change it for any other adv bike.
I love my Transalp!
Hi guys! Sorry I cannot answer all comments individually, but thank you all for watching and commenting. 🤘When we talk about ‘adventure touring’ the Alp seems more capable than I originally thought, if you pick your battles. Perhaps I was too harsh on it! My cynicism and criticism will be back soon! 👍 Cheers!
Had 3 test rides before i purchase Transalp.
I have compared with Tuareg, 800DE, and Africa Twin.
And I am very happy with my choice.
Done touring and off-road, it just well balanced bike.
"ready to repair" 😆 love your's T-Shirt … Greets!
to much drama
This Trans Alp 750 is what the Africa Twin used to be, but modern.
The Africa Twin is now a to big, heavy and fat monster!
