  1. With demonic pact there are ways where you can give it to your opponents to just make them lose the game so if you can do that consistently then its probably good in edh for group hug decks also ad nauseam is good in commander I use it with meren to find my combo

  2. I am surprised no one mentioned Netherborn Alter it reads "Tap, Put a soul counter on Netherborn Alter: Put your commander into your hand from the command zone. Then you lose 3 life for each soul counter on Netherborn Alter" yes you just lose life if playing this outside of commander and yes this card is mostly used to cheat commander tax or to just play Phage the Untouchable as your commander pretty much along with command beacon it is a staple in any Phage deck as it gets Phage into your hand. But just play Torpor Orb if you wanna run Phage it prevents ETB's from triggering so you don't lose and if someone gives you the stink eye for running a stax card just say "Look at my commander i have to or i lose" even if they are running a ETB deck which then oof for them lol

Though you did not hear it from me but you totally can cheat Phage out just play a Jet Medallion summon K'rrik and then you can cast her for 2 mana granted you lose 8 life but its commander who cares you casted K'rrik for 3 mana and 6 life anyways. Just make sure K'rrik is the commander that way you don't lose when you turn 3 Phage summon for 2 mana, you might not win as the whole table will be all over you as a Phage being summoned the first 3 turns is scary to anyone because if she deals damage she kills you and no one wants to die turn 4. Well if you have a K'rrik as your commander you are probably going to get targeted anyways let alone summon him, Phage is just icing on the cake. Though if you wanted you could play Buried Alive target Phage, Sheoldred, and Platinum angel and logically they will aim for Platinum Angel first as they know you will target Phage next or last due to Platinum Angel allowing you to not lose the game and yes i know the smart move would to be getting rid of Sheoldred because then you can just target Platinum Angel and they essentially waste their removal as Sheoldred, Whispering one will bring her back.

That scenario they will need two removals or exiling Platinum Angel causing the Phage player to panic as Sheoldred is not a May ability so in that scenario you better play that gravepurge and hope no one counters it otherwise sac your Emergence zone during your upkeep (if you played it previous turn) to give all your stuff flash for the turn into a Hidden Horror as even if they counter that then that is great as you are letting it hit the yard anyways so the Sheoldred trigger will get it and you just keep sacrificing it so you won't die to Phage. Sure it won't happen often but some people will counter your stuff just so your deck will self destruct on you which is why Hidden Horror is the best option and failsafe there because unless the counter tucks him back into the deck/hand/exile you get what you were after not dying because of your mandatory trigger and permanently shutting off Sheoldred from bringing anything you don't want back such as a Phage when it would kill ya

  3. To clarify the plague of vermin combo:
Soul warden makes me gain 1 life whenever a creature enters the battlefield. Cliffhaven makes each opponent lose 1 Life everytime I gain life.

So I just pay life equal to the highest opponents life total and boom, I win!

  4. Can't believe Yawgmoth's Bargain didn't get at least five minutes of this video dedicated to the way it dominated tournament play and caused the Mercadian Masques, Nemesis, and Prophecy block to suck so hard.

  5. Really, Death's Shadow does not hit you but actively profits of you hurting yourself or getting hurt, thus being the epitome of this list. Even moreso Scourge of the Skyclaves which actually deals damage to each player including its owner

  6. I know he wasn't much better, but I definitely ran Colossus of Sardia over the Force of Nature back in the day… that card, while not untapping during untap step, at least doesn't have the issue of dealing damage if the payment wasn't paid… XD

  7. Omg! I remember when my buddy and I started playing magic when we were kids LOVED force of nature hahaha. I still remember being so pumped when I pulled a pyrexian dreadnaught from a pack hahah just seeing 12/12 made me SOOO excited haha. This was late 90s very early 2000s and we were also 13 or 14 years old lol
