  1. A non-monster-non-vehicle-non-round-base-non-nonnery-non-nonsense-non-model . . why have a keyword system if you just fuck it all up with exceptions on top of exceptions.
This is the most convoluted, slapdash rules-writing I have seen in a while. 🤦

  2. Am I the only one feeling 10th ed is more of a mess than usual? We keep jumping from update to update with each iteration breaking almost as many things as it fixes. Any problematic interactions are usually nuked without nuance or concern on how they might affect other systems.

  3. My friends and I don't play competitive, we all just agreed to do a sort of "rules WYSIWYG" no BS, no balance dataslates and random constant rules changes. Whatever is in the original 10th edition rulebook and the original codexes, we go with that. If we use the 40k app we agree for everyone to use the app at the same time for the sake of ease of access to datasheets and list building, but otherwise alot of this hyper technical nonsense takes away a ton from the fun of the game. GW is forgetting this game is supposed to be FUN or people will stop buying the product.

The competitive scene seems like its such a shitshow right now when every few months the rules are being changed sometimes seemingly at random, making it incredibly hard to keep up with what the current rules.

Extremely unproffessional behavior on GW's part, shame on them

  4. Wouldn't be an issue with Los rules that aren't absolute dogsht .
It's wild to me how 40k is basically the biggest wargame without being able to write even a handful of decent rules while selling incredibly bloated rulebooks

  5. This getting to be too much, this fucking game is already mentally draining as is, now all these faq and updates are just too much. Just got into firearms so now my money is going towards steel and lead rather than plastic and paint.

  6. What ever happened to "simplified, but not simple"?
Also, how the heck am I going to teach my friend the rules, and how to look up answers to confusing rulings?
    This is a nightmare…

  7. @TacticalTortoise,
can you tell me where it says, that the line of sight is drawn normally into the ruin?
The rule change says: "For the purposes of visibility INTO … a Ruin, visibility to … such a model that overhangs its base is determines only by its base and parts of that model that do not overhang its base."

So it got changed, you can not see Magnus if the base is covered and a wing sticks out. "normally" or before he would have been visible

Also, within the text, in Ruins section, it is about models "behind Ruins." (first sentence)
This would mean Magnus, behind a ruin, but sticking his wings around the ruin, wouldn't be visible anymore (and can't shoot around the ruin anymore) as his base is obscured by the ruin. Overriding the core rules visiblity rules.
Even if in the core rules update 1.1 it says "Models that are within this terrain feature can be seen normally" doesn't mean the overhanging parts can be seen normally now after the new update. As the new ipdates wording bascily states that the model is within, wholly within and behind the model just the base and all parts of the model, that are over the model, and do not include the overhanging parts, if the model is within, wholly within or behind a model.

    Am I wrong here?

  8. That Tyranid nerf is honestly more of a buff because now it confirmed that the zoans get the big guns never tire rule when in the unit. My group assumed that when a ruling came down it was just going to say monster models get to shoot only

  9. The game would be SO MUCH simpler if they forget the concept of measuring anything from the model and instead use the base. Like we did in the good old days. I played a few games of 10ed like that with a friend and everything is faster and cleaner as a lot of the rules and exceptions and exceptions to the exceptions can be discarded. It also has the side benefit of completely removing the concept of moding for benefit: you can do what every you want with the mini as long as it is on the correct base.

  10. lets remember that all tau battlesuits need to pivot and Tyranid Gargoyles also need to pivot.
the warpsmith also and i could go on.

the pivot movement rule just dont work, the old movement rule worked much better.
