The Vortex StrikeEagle 1-6 Gen II Is the perfect case and point that some manufacturers can make some serious changes to a type of optic to genuinely make it improved. This is Significantly better than the Gen I, and puts it above many of the older mid tier LPVO’s in the optics and reticle standpoint. Now if Only Vortex would build the PST Gen III….

  1. From side by side comparison in the gun shop, when it comes to vortex it has to be viper up to be quality. Anything below the viper looks blurry and cheap. I was very disappointed when I saw that. I was planning on getting the smoking deal from psa, glad I didn’t. Ended up with a $250 cabelas on sale for $150 and the thing looks and feels as good or better than the viper. Has a massive fov at like 124 feet!

  2. Gen 2 is definitely better than Gen 1 (I had both) but there’s just something about looking through Vortex product, and Primary Arms, that just doesn’t work for me. I liked that big, bright sight picture I got from Nikon scopes from the cheap Buckmaster through the Black Force line (and Leupold VX2) so, of course, they’ve been discontinued. My luck.

  3. A very Merry Christmas to you and that playful Kitty. Would love to see a comparison of using a Mid price MPVO vs LPVO for an AR 5.56/.223 rifle. What are the advantages of each over the other? Loving the videos and learning a ton!

  4. I actually have one on the way now. It's funny how many people told me I should have gotten such and such instead and they were all 2.5-4X as much. I mean how much money do I need to spend to look cool poking holes in paper? Ain't like "ze germans" are coming for round three. 🤣

  5. I would never buy vortex, primary arms is made by the same manufacturer, better reticles, better prices, AND you actually matter to them if you need to contact customer service. Just saying if you’re looking for an optic, pass on vortex go with PA

  6. I dont want to sound like a broken record but the last years vortex and pa have had a real lack luster quality of all their optics and at this point im just going tpony up for a nightforce for my 16"

every scope I looked at sub 900 just sucks. and I own a p4xi and I really like i but not enough to pay 700 for another one when I got mine for 500

  7. Love your reviews C_DOES, I value your opinion on all things optics and mounts. Your investment has helped guide me, save money and confirm some of my idiot impulse buys were bad decisions (won’t name names but an overweight scope mount is one) Merry Christmas and thank you!

  8. Isn't loose focus ring going to make it not hold zero?
I don't know much about scopes internals, so don't hate on me. I have a PA 1-6x SFP that shat the bed (shooting like 10 moa with it) and the only visible problem with is the loose focus ring.

  9. ah yes, the legendary PSA deal, Strike Eagle WITH mount for 160. Based PSA taking $250 off the sales price instead of pricing the bundle for $250, lmfao. Still can't believe the honored the price despite being an obvious error. Thanks PSA for blessing my broke ass with this optic!

  10. No, they didn't mess up. I bought one(from PSA) in March or April of '22 and it was $200 off, plus they threw in the $100 offset mount with it. Couldn't pass it up. But it's deeply discounted because it's discounted and that makes it a really great deal.

  11. Heads up for those that either don't care about color or want a fde LPVO… OP has their "opmod" strike eagles with bdc3 reticle really cheap. The 1-6 is $249 and the 1-8 is $299. I just picked up a 1-8. Was going to get the 1-6 for $250, but the 1-8 for only $50 more got me. I love my regular strike eagle 1-8 with bdc3. I got it before they went up another $100. I think I gave $399, with the same mount that came with the one in the video, before covid. Now they're $499 in a retail setting for the 1-8 without the mount. I think $249 and $299 is a steal for these lpvo's. And with the holiday codes I got another 11% off. So I really got the 1-8 for about $266. Not quite the steal that this guy got from PA, but a steal nonetheless.

  13. Hey C I'm deciding for an lpvo for my 556 ruger american ranch, options are limited in my country, but in my budget and available I have the SAI 6 1-6x ffp, bushnell srms tactical 1-8.5x ffp, and trijicon credo 1-8 ffp, 1-6 ffp, and 1-6 sfp. Which would u recommend ?

  14. When it finally broke Vortex replaced my 12 year old first gen SPARC with a far superior current model. So, having purchased a Gen 2 Strike Eagle 1-8x this past summer, I just hope it doesn't break until Gen 4,5,6 or what ever latest and greatest model is available to replace it. Season's Greetings!

  15. So thanks to your comparison of the 1-6x and 1-8x I returned my gen 2 1-8x opmod strike eagle for the 1-6x gen 2- OPMOD fde strike eagle. It looks way more consistent between short to long ranges, and having to be on full magnification to have your drops line up and that 8x just fell apart past 6x is why I returned the 1-8x and I got the gen 2 in FDE for 220$ saved 46$ over the 1-8x,it was 266$, thanks c does for the great comparisons
