Thanks for the great reaction,The song is very well written and brilliantly delivered by John.John has a voice that no matter what he sings, Ballads,, Rock, Opera, he delivers every time every song John gives a 100 percent. The mood you’re in when you listen to John changes he fills with feelings of joy and happiness. The feelings for me have gone on for fifty years, He will always be G.O.A.T. To me I’m just another one who will tell how we love and respect John, some reactors say he sounds like this one or that one but to Aussies he is The Voice, and there will never be another who sounds like JF❤
I'm old enough to remember when this song was released and i love it as much now as i did back then. It was only recently that i realised the lyric wasn't "we rob someone's daughter, we rob someone's son". Can't imagine how many times i've sung the wrong words in all those years.
This should be Aussie national anthem. Way better than the "girt" rubbish.
You missed the first stand throw just prior to the one you did see. It went straight up and then he caught it!!!

You missed one of the most extraordinary things in the stage performance. It was just before he throws the mic stand away. The camera angle is behind him and he throws the mic stand, spinning, 3 metres into the air and catches it with one hand. Have a close look at 6:41
You should watch the entire concert ….. its amazing start to finish ! Starting with Age of Reason !!! with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra playing the prelude.
What can I say about John that hasn't already been said? He is indeed a legend. This concert was filmed live in 1989 at the National Tennis Centre (now known as Rod Laver Arena), Melbourne in front of a capacity audience of 110,000 fans (or so I'm told). It says a lot about the man when parents feel comfortable taking their kids to the concert.
I think you’d enjoy his warm up cover of Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog. It’s off the charts! 🤯
I just remember this song from the movie Hot Rod, I had never heard it before and now I'll never forget it!
Lovely reaction. I like how you break down the key changes and point out how it builds the tension. You might have missed it but just before he throws away the mic stand, he has actually thrown it up in the air and caught it again on the beat (I think the shot of him just comes back as he is catching it on the left of the screen, hard to pick up but amazing). Amazing voice, we all love him ❤
That crowd looks pretty impressive for a concert. Even more impressive John had 13 sold out concerts at that venue alone!

A live version of “when the war is over “ would be amazing or the very up tempo “ playing to Win”
He actually threw the mic stand high in the air … caught it before it hit the ground … then threw it away. All while singing.
Check it out. There is a change in camera angle between the throw and catch.
Also he retrieves the mic stand later in the song with a very cool flick of his foot.
Love your emotion to this song. I also cry every time I listen to it.
I would love to see you react to “Amazing Grace”, performed by John with his backing vocalists Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field from the Whispering Jack concert in late 1986/7… it’s masterful…
