Vocabulary of a Narcissist | Khutbah by Dr. Omar Suleiman

What words does Allah attribute to narcissists in the Quran? What traits do those words uncover, and what do those narcissists have in common? A powerful reflection from Ibn Al Qayyim (RA) on avoiding these terms and the tyranny they represent.

  2. Dr. Omar you talk about so many things and u did phD can you provide one single evidence of Jummah Khutba given by our beloved pbuh. Where is one Khutba that he gave? I never heard about Jummah Khutba and yet all our imams follow it?

  3. The most I'm afraid of in this entire world is my own heart, how it could flip without me catching it.

  4. Narcissists don’t self reflect; the personality disorder means that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

If you reflect and wish to better yourself, you may have narcissistic traits that you can heal and override but a narc will never heal because they don’t believe there’s anything wrong with them.

    And Allah knows best

  5. JazakAllah khairun dear Imam Omar Suleman. I wish these types of topics were discussed in the Jummah khutba in Pakistan as well. Deep insight into character building and psychology of a momin and others is discussed very rarely.

  7. Narcissists are very sick people…they can't see their own sickness. MashaAllah loved this Alhamdulilah wa shukriLilah that Allah saved me from a toxic relationship with a narcissist that seems a long time ago now.

  8. I really enjoyed this lecture, but I think the first few minutes should come with a warning that of you’re a survivor of abuse they aren’t meant for you. I have a few people I don’t feel comfortable sending this too, since they are suffering from PTSD from abusive relationships. Their partners would call them a narcissist and they believed it. I’m afraid them seeing imam Omar say we need to look at ourselves would be harmful for such people. InshaAllah the rest of the khutbah was beautiful

Iv lived with a man who only sees himself. Thinks he is perfect. Points flaws at me.

  10. My ex gave me some garbage lie when I saw him in a motel. I didn't believe him and after that I couldn't trust him at all. I started feeling like he has cheating on a constant base and I haven't just caught him till then. I wanted to confirm my suspicion.I had to know…. I was driven to know. The truth is the truth. Some of us have to know. Everyone is different. I got a tech guy to snoop into his phone and I got all his texts, calls and social media activities. I then found out that he had 2 month old relationship with the lady he was with at the motel. I got to know this through the infos the tech guy got me from his phone without his knowledge, He got into her phone and drives. I found Dirty proofs, real dirty things. All deleted Messages, chats, Videos, Call history from 12years back where unveiled to me. This proofs where helpful cos he worked my papers for me and now I can stay with my child and have a good job. Don’t let your narcissistic partner abuse you no more, follow him on Instagram

  11. Narcissists(mostly men)are terrible two faced people, constantly degrading, invalidating, blame shifting, insulting, threatening, controlling, manipulative, arrogant, pathological liars. They are literally emotional vampires, freeing from their curse is very difficult, they blame people around them for their every life problem, yet they refuse to let go off them. May Allah save all of those who are suffering from fitna of these abusers, ameen.

  12. I am shocked that there is a video on Narcissism in the Islamic perspective. Narcissists are extremely detrimental to mental health. The trauma bond is one of the worst things one can experience (imagine knowing 100% that the person is evil but completely unable to leave them) and these things need to be talked more so people can gain the strength to recognize, get out of relationships and protect themselves from getting involved with another one in the future.

  13. Great topic but psychologically speaking, unfortunately narcissists cannot find fault in themselves or diagnose themselves it's always someone else who notices it, it's embedded into the nature that they cannot see faults within themselves and it's created because of their treatment by the primary caregivers as a child and by 16 the narcissist is created even if their traits start to show closer to adulthood and can never be cured unfortunately

  15. "When it comes to the narcissist, every other person becomes a tool or a threat in their constant battle. And so every person and relationship is disposable."
Light bulb moment right there. No wonder Narcs make your life miserable when you start to see right through them and stop accepting their nonsense. They'll vilify you when they see you as a threat. They never want to apologise and are experts at gaslighting and manipulation. As intimidating as that is, remember that narcissists are more often than not extremely insecure. So no matter how much trouble they've caused you, make Allah your friend, lots of dua and dhikr and InshaAllah you'll be the one to end it saying "Checkmate".
