  1. For everyone concerned about sight lines trees and shade, there are over 1,500 trees in the park. It is nearly impossible to transplant adult trees in areas that get all four seasons and have them survive, so the trees are all young. Just give them a few years, it’ll really come together.

  2. I really hope this doesn't end up like Hard Rock park. The attendance looks a bit low but I hope they're able to run some ad campaigns or something to get more people in!

  3. I agree with Tanner. I like the SLCs. I haven't ridden one that hurt, until I rode this one at Lost Island. Other than that, I loved the park. Awesome dark ride, Matugani was far better than I thought it would be, friendly staff, great theming, reasonable prices on merch & food.

I don’t count relocated coasters multiple times. Let’s put it this way. You cannot say you have ridden four Vekoma Flying Dutchman coasters because only three of them have ever been produced. On top of this, when I rode Twisted Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain which was my 200th roller coaster, my paper sign said, ā€œ200th coasterā€, NOT 200th coaster location.

  5. Park looks very nice. Definitely give a Europe theme park vibe. But with maybe some advertising nearby and minor changes, it can succeed. But definitely once it get rolling, hopefully see something like RMC T Rex, family coaster, GCI Wooden coaster to give it a signature coaster or 2, as well as small improvement. Hopefully we give it the time so it can succeed and push Adventureland and Valleyfair to improve. More completion means better for the consumers.

  6. A dark ride better than Disney is very surprising and shows a family park can do better than the big parks. Hopefully the crowds start showing up. Would love to visit this park someday.

  7. Nice report on this park. I hope your video helps put it on the map. ACE will be back there next year to show its support. It was great running into you again: first France, then Iowa. The third time will be the charm. I wonder where it will be. šŸ™‚

  8. I missed you guys by a couple days, went here in Mid July as well for the first time. As an Iowan, it's nice to see another park in the state. I echo your thoughts; theming is amazing, rides are fun overall, (SLC sucks, Matugani is a fun little coaster). Just a good overall time. Check out the water park next time!

  9. The park gives me a 100% amusement park version of volcano bay at universal but with a SLC running just like the current state of The Great Nor’easter at Moreys Piers in New Jersey.

  10. Those trees will grow. They are not mature yet. To transplant fully mature trees that arent like palm tress if very difficult and very expensive. So they planted trees. Those twig tress will be 20-30ft or taller in 10 years and will look a lot better just takes time unfortunately

  11. I was there July 28th, the hottest day of the year so far. I was shocked to see how few guests were there! There were 17 cars in the lot at 6pm and they were to close at 930pm that night. There were maybe 25 cars at 2pm.
We had 4 in our party and we rode every ride without any other people. We never waited in a line. It was like we rented the park for a day! They really need to start an advertising campaign. It's a beautiful park with so many fun and extreme rides.

  12. Relocated coasters are definitely different credits IMO. Different parks may operate them differently, the theming and terrain is different, etc. However, a rethemed ride without track work or a change in train style (ie: Avalanche to Reptilian) are not new credits. I also think that a full retrack without new profiling and/or with new trains but of the same style (ie: Hulk) is not a new credit. Only when changing from a standup to a floorless, for example

  13. Iowa gets humid as f*ck especially near open corn fields. Shade isn't going to do sh*t for heat. Tall trees are crazy expensive to transplant as well, I'm sure they'll invest in more later.

  14. I think a good next coaster for them is a Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster. They have two great thrill coasters and a kiddie coaster but nothing in between. So it would be perfect for filling in that gap.

  15. I've been on 3 SLC's and the one at Lost Island really doesn't deserve that much hate. It does have a bit of a rattle to it, but the restraints make it so much better. Of the 3 I have been on this one overall is the best, plus it has the extra helix which is uncommon. Going a bit far to comment about getting a concussion when with these restraints it is so much better and eliminates the headbanging I experienced on the other 2 I rode. It is a bit jerky through the first element, but for a rebuilt relocated SLC it's really not as bad as you guys are making it seem. It's really a shame this theme park isn't getting more love. Trees also don't grow overnight. This was a cornfield and it has only been in existence for not even 2 years, not much they can do to make the trees grow faster. Also why no coverage of their flume ride which is also very good?
