    – Viruses and prions are believed to have mutated or evolved from healthy cells or proteins in living things and "gone rogue". Similarly, the titular parasite Eve is a mutated mitochondrion that's "gone rogue". However, Eve also has a sentient hive mind shared between all copies of her mitochondria.

    – Cells contain "organelles". Mitochondria are organelles that use oxygen to produce ATP. ATP is the primary form of "energy" in the context of biological processes. Mitochondria were thus titled "the powerhouse of the cell" by Philip Siekevitz in 1957.

    – The novel's author admitted that Eve has next to nothing to do with the actual Mitochondrial Eve. The real one is the most common female ancestor of modern humans, because mitochondria are inherited from the mother. Thus parasite Eve, made out of mitochondria, is a corrupted parody of motherhood. A study published on Jan 1 1987 asserted that Mitochondrial Eve was a member of an African population from between 140,000 to 200,000 years ago. However, all the other scientists bullied these ones and refuted their study.

    – Spontaneous combustion has been shown to occur in haybales and other things that ferment or compost over time, because those processes produce heat. However, when human beings burn to death in mysterious circumstances (because the fire burned all the evidence), clowns always insist that they spontaneously combusted. Quacks conjecture that spontaneous human combustion is caused by releasing too much ATP, because ATP is energy and producing energy produces heat, thus they melt down like a nuclear reactor.

    – Because Eve is mitochondria, she controls ATP production. Therefore, she can cause human beings to spontaneously combust or melt into orange goo. She has finer control over lower creatures / animals – she can force hideous, Altered Beast-like growth into terrible monsters. Animals are usually considered to be dead / zombies once Eve transforms them.

  36. Oh my fucking god I have been trying to remember what this game was for the last 10 years because I had a vague memory of it from when I was 10 and I could never find it or figure out how to describe it to people beyond the fact that I thought it was an old final fantasy game…

    Jesus fuck I can't believe that randomly watching this has finally brought that search to an end.

    "not 100 hours long" I guess if you just want to go A-B, start to finish, sure. new game plus is totally a thing and you can customize your weapons so nicely. but you skipped the intro because some myopic toad said it spoils, which you'll have no idea what's going on from the intro so no, it doesn't.

  42. theres a recent fan-translation of FF7 that's obsessively trying to be accurate. i replayed the game recently and really enjoyed it. it has some issues im sure but if you ever want to replay it again, try the "Beacause" translation. It's way more accurate re: the plot and particularly the jenova and sephiroth stuff. And of course Aerith says "The guy in here is sick." instead of "This guy are sick."

  46. It's probably a real pain for Vinny to voice act these lines but I like it a lot, lol. Especially having a 'local' voice act these NYC NPCs. JRPG LPs on this channel are my favorite like Final Fantasy 9 and Earthbound because of the VA. I jumped for joy when I saw this game come up!
