  1. I finished it in 2 sessions trying to 100% it. Forgot to scan a map station and you can't scan one when it's been used. So I was stuck at 99%.

Replaying it on hard now to fix it.

  2. I know exactly what Vin means when he says he had an optical illusion moment with the map. Sometimes it really feels like I'm suddenly looking at the map upside down and it trips the f*ck out of me.

  3. 5:35 Hmm, yes. Imagine if Nintendo gave 1/12th of a rat's scrotum about Eternal Darkness.

If anything, I would trust Retro with a Eternal Darkness high end remaster. Maybe they can work on that once Metroid Prime 4 completes development in like 4 years.

  4. Funny thing about Thardus there is actually a little nook where almost all of his attacks don't hit you and the ground attacks won't hit. This was a cheese I figured out as a teenager and its how I beat it the first time.

  5. Fun fact: Did ye know: The most notable thing about the hud redesign, is the 2 sortof Lambda arch lookin things on the lower left and lower right (visors and beams).

Those parts of the original hud kinda look like 2 people figure skating with their arms up.

It was the thing that stood out to me most with the hud, partially because I replayed OG Prime somewhat recently.

Also it does the Half-Life thing, when you take damage, the left or right one will glow depending on the direction of the damage. The original does this too, but I don't think I've ever noticed this for some weird reason.

Another thing I didn't notice was, when you shoot a normal power beam shot, there's these 3 or 4 retracting bits of the arm cannon's muzzle that move. It's like Samus's arm cannon is one giant heat sink. Can we get this alien metal into CPU and GPU heatsinks so we can stop using fans?

You probably don't notice some of these things (most notably the retracting arm cannon muzzle bits) because you're always running and gunning.

  6. The thing that makes me happy is that the Metroid series had a long period of time where there were questions of whether or not Nintendo actually cared enough about the franchise, or if it was viable. After Metroid Samus Returns, Metroid Dredd and now Metroid Prime being an Amazon #1 seller, I think maybe Nintendo will take it more seriously now. MP2 and 3 remake is a no-brainer money printer.

  7. The sound that plays whenever the thermal visor is activated always sounded like someone saying "yum yum yum three three five" to me.

Also what is it about Metroid Prime that keeps causing Vinny to get real?

  8. For anyone looking to play Super Metroid for the first time through "non-traditional" means, I HIGHLY recommend Super Metroid Redux with Heavy Physics. When I was playing through all of the 2D games in anticipation for Dread, it was my definite favorite. Plus, it gels nicely with Zero Mission, AM2R, and Fusion

  9. I always liked how this part kind of humanizes the space pirates with them being yelled at for keeping pets and overfeeding the contained creatures. I remember it pissing me off when I first read their entry in 3 and it was like "Oh no they're savage cannibals bad guys kill them kid."

  10. I seen a few people say how the remaster doesn't look much better than the original. When everyone else was saying how the remaster looked as "how they remembered it", it dawned on me that the people who say the remaster doesn't look that good probably thought the original game DID look as good as they thought. Despite the nostalgia I have for the GC original, even I remember how low poly some things were and how some textures looked like ass up close.

  11. I think people have a skewed memory of what Prime 3 looks like, in my opinion and the opinions of my friends pretty unanimously, it looks the worst of the trilogy. It has the Twilight Princess "chlorine eyes" light bloom cranked up to an even more ludicrous extreme. Prime 1 and 2 both still look fantastic, 3 is the one that is the most in need of a remaster.

  12. Hot take: Tallon Depths, Chapel of the Elders and Phendrana are the only good tracks in the game. Magmoor doesn't count cause it's just Super Metroid music. Never understood why people are so crazy about the OST in this. Pirate battle theme and Chozo Ruins are particularly wack imo.

  13. he thinks Metroids are "so round" in Prime, but really Tallon Metroids are more angular. That was the distinctive design change for this one…..the standard Metroid's physiology got more angular and reproportioned a bit. They're really bulbous in Super

  14. This remaster really is incredible, but the Thermal Visor could definitely do with less blur. It already had some visual noise in the original, but the sharper look of the clear image made Samus' tech feel sophisticated compared to real life examples. A patch to maybe just sharpen up the visor and reduce / remove the blur would be really appreciated ( and maybe an option for turning off the additional voiceovers, imo ).
Otherwise I'm just really happy this exists, even with little differences. I'm dying to see how the late game looks, like the Phazon Mines and Impact Crater.

  15. I want to punch the chat member who said that Eternal Darkness doesn't hold up right in the mouth. The fuck it doesn't hold up. That game is great. I played it recently on my softmodded Wii and it's almost better than I remember. It's like saying Resident Evil doesn't hold up. Just because some things might feel clunky doesn't mean the game is shit. Like throwing the baby out with the dirty bathwater.

  16. I absolutely love how you can see the Shadow Pirate at 1:09:11 activating it's cloaking device once it sees Samus.
Also that was a seriously epic takedown on Thardus. Samus fires a super missile, Thardus blocks it with his hand and uses his ice wave attack in retaliation, Samus jumps over it and gets right up close, then Thardus winds up for a big swing of his hand to smack her away, but Samus uses the opening that Thardus inadvertently creates to finish him off with a super missile. Beautiful.

  17. After confirming through Vinny that this was not a complete cash grab, I'm also enjoying this remaster.

So now I'll just finally complete it with scans at 1440p with textures that are almost good for that resolution.

I just wish there was a bit extra, you know the Nintendo rereleases have had at least a bit of new to excuse the repurchase apart from the visual face lift.

Maybe a hot sex scene with a chozo and mecha Ridley.

    I really hope they don't pull a

  18. Samus in other M is so out of character that I saw a theory that she's not actually Samus but an X-parasite brought in a mission for combat testing. Pretty cope theory for sure.
