Viewer Mail Marathon Christmas Special!

Hi guys! It’s time to open some of the wonderful mail we’ve received! Lots of Agents stopped in and we had a lot of laughs… Hope you have a terrific holiday season and we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas from me and Miss Frankers!
I wanted to dedicate this week’s episode to the memories of Dave’s father, Robert Gene Trent, and my friend Mike Mearns, both of whom passed recently. Our thoughts are with their families this Christmas.

Calendars are sold out; thanks so much to everyone who ordered one… they are all shipped now, so watch the mail!

Oh! I do not have a Telegram account or any bullshit contest going! Do not respond to any of these “contest winner” replies; they are a scam.
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your “likes” and comments!

Please feel free to check out our Patreon page at :

www.Patreon.com/coldwarmotors where we have extra videos and pictures and a bunch of people hanging out and bs-ing about cars!

We have set up a Paypal Donations Page if you’d like to help out the cause here… Very much appreciated! Here is the link:

  2. Thanks Scott and all the Agents who took the time to open mail for this year's Special- we appreciate it! I will be getting my picture with Dad tomorrow with the calendars, and to sidestep the Patreon Community section for the moment I can easily share the photo to you on Instagram and I believe it is possible to save it to your camera roll if you wish to repost it somewhere. I'm of course thinking of your close ones who passed away, and all the Agent regulars we haven't seen much of this year, Details Dave especially – please pass on my best wishes and hopes to see him again very soon. All the best from out here in the Hammertown! -D

  3. The Philips Record Player is the only one of the 3 different Car players I know existed that I believe Chrysler never used.
Chrysler had 2 different players the early Hiway HiFi which used a goofy proprietary record standard that spun at 16 RPM and used a smaller styli than any home record format.
Later Chrysler partnered with RCA and had them develop the RCA AP-1 Car Record Changer which came stock on some Mopar and aftermarket from RCA. I have an AP-1 I'm reconditioning, and IMO the AP-1 is the unit the unit to have if you want to use one. The AP-1 could be loaded with IIRC up to 16 different standard 45RPM records from your home record collection and would automatically cycle through playing the bottom side of each. RCA invented the 45RPM format in 1949 and at the behest of Chrysler corp basically took their excellent RP-168 home mechanism and redesigned it to work upside down, on 12VDC, and deal with road vibration.

The Philips unit is IMO silly as you have to change records manually every 2-5 minutes, the original Hiway HiFi is impractical due to the oddball format limiting record availability and music choice, but the RCA uses standard records and if you choose the records you load carefully (expecially those 45RPM EPs that have 2-3 songs on each side) it can play more than an albums worth of music (with EPs possibly more than 2) between each necessary user intervention.

  4. Oh it's a Christmas miracle, a mail opening special, sweet! It is crazy how much cool stuff people find and send up to you. Your library and warehouse must be really growing, would be cool to see the library sometime. I can't think of many other people who are more deserving of these treasures than you and the agents. Looking forward to the next mail opening party. Merry Christmas Scott, Frankers, and all the Agents! This channel helps me keep my sanity in a crazy world, keep it up!

  5. We had the donkey in the 70's. My sister and I filled it with bubblegum cigs and loved playing with it and the hand crank ice crusher while we played at our family room basement bar, which was kinda like yours…… but in a basement. A great Xmas memory Scott and whoever sent the donkey. Ho ho ho!

  6. If you need 45’s, let me know what you like. I have 40,000 of them. They’ll be US, (no REO’s sorry).
My Mom smoked Trues. I’d swipe one occasionally. They had a plastic filter tip.
I’d be glad to forward my address for any of those items you don’t feel worthy of.

  7. The happiest of happy Christmases to Scott, Ms Frankers McMenace, her squirrel and all the CWM clan!
What a lot of wonderful pressies this Christmas and all from people like me who revel in the unmissable doses of obvious, nutty CWM friendships; the overwhelming love of period winged cars, vaguely wheeled rust and your equal desire to hear it bark off – even if it lacks an engine.

You absolutely made my Christmas this year as while I enjoyed your unwrapping – especially the incontinent donkey – my joy knew no bounds when you found and unwrapped my small present 🎁, the red 1960 Alberta car plate. I was very touched by what you said Scott – as I’m sure all the pressie senders were.

A huge thank you all for CWM and the absolute (informative) fun you give us. May your Brussel sprouts be cooked to perfection and your Christmas crackers be more than willing in every respect!

Scott, you say you are unworthy of all these great gifts, but GOOD LORD!! What you and the agents give US every week is often priceless!!
Much love to you, the Gents and of course, Frankers!! An hour and a half well spent!!

Merry Christmas, Peace and Love from Parma, Michigan!!

  9. Wishing everyone at Cold War Motors a merry Christmas and happy New Year's Eve as well – congratulations on getting so many interesting gifts from all over the planet including countries as far as way as Australia and Finland! It will probably please you to know that this year I gave my older brother a framed painting I had made of a 1966 Imperial Crown Coupé similar to his, which he really liked.

  10. “I’m just a bum who lives in a junkyard” LOL Self awareness is a great thing whether you’re content as you are or inspired to do more. I believe you embody both by working hard returning rusty hulks to newness and content with, as you put it, just a bum who lives in a junkyard. Looking forward to the 59 Buick. I always remembered one as a kid that had the “Spring Accent” two-tone paint. It really stood out in its day and I believe was available in all body types. Perhaps for yours?

Merry Christmas to CWM and all its followers.
