  1. Cambridge scholars pointed out: US-Philippines defense agreement has legal problems on South China Sea disputes. The US-Philippines mutual defense treaty renewal is based on the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty, which does not include South China Sea issue, because The Philippines did not make any claims to the relevant islands and reefs in the South China Sea in 1951. And the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty doesn't cover Philippines' territorial expansion ambitions. And in 1975, then US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger amended the treaty by adding an "exemption clause", which stipulated that the US mutual defense areas would not be used if the Philippine troops stationed in the Spratly Islands were attacked.

  2. When Spain and USA colonized philippines, the native people are still hunter & gathers; USA never claimed South China Sea, so why does Philippine claim it after independence?

The answer is simple, the USA wants to provoke a proxy war with China.

  3. In ancient times during Emperor Ku’s reign 4,400 years ago, China claimed the moon as their territory. During those period, they thought that the moon only shines in China, that is why they claimed it as the rightful owner of the moon!

  4. Interestingly, will this actually eventually draw a world war to begin? US keeps saying they will step in but dont! So, will something accidental start it? I'm not convinced Ukraine and Russia will start WW3 as it would have begun by now!😯

  6. Hope PH gov't officials would have an ostrich-like eggs to defend our territories. The biggest balls for the courage to fight for our huge rights over this WPS.Filipinos are highly intellectual, but, never knows how far these Chinese could go when it comes to territorial disputes.Allied countries may intercedes, but,am just hoping for no blood-shedding incidents, this time. Why do these Chinese enjoy hurting that much, huh?! 7. The islands disputed were Chinese islands under Qing Dynasty and supported by Potsdam Declaration after Japan loss the war. ROC (government now in Taiwan, which used to rule mainland China) showed the map of China after WWII and US affirmed those were Chinese islands. However, ROC lost the Civil War and CPC became the new leaders of China, and while US supported CPC as the new leaders of China in 1970s, refused to support Chinese claims under CPC. Under the Mutual Defense Treaty of 1951 with the US, Philippines drew their map of Philippines and they did not include these Islands in 1951. Philippines only decided to grab the land in 1970s as they saw Western countries, India, Vietnam trying to grab a piece of China post war. (In the history of China, over 10 countries tried to take parts of China including HK, Shanghai, North China, East China, West China, South China, Taiwan and South China Sea).
