  1. I am furious at this. That man should NEVER own a horse. we only ride horses at our barn in the morning and for 1hr max during summer in Texas. The fact that poor horse was pulling a carriage in the heat all day is inexcusable. They are such sensitive and willing creatures I hate seeing them being treated this way.

  2. What a garbage person. Then they'll claim they care about the horses. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that an animal that has collapsed is in distress and the decent response is to help, not try to bully him to get up. Seriously. It's not enough to make your living by exploiting horses, you act like a POS when they are collapsed? That horse is tiny and skinny AF.

I live in Montreal, Canada. We had POS exploiting horses for dumb tourists too. Like NYC carriage horses, their living conditions were inadequate and they never felt grass or given the opportunity to just be horses. Many were worked until death and there were reports of collapsed horses on the road, with the driver acting very similarly to the one in this video.

They were finally banned for good in 2020.

Horses are not meant to spend their lives on busy city roads full of cars. It is truly barbaric. NYC time to end this.

Please watch the documentary "Blinders: The Truth Behind the Tradition" on this website or the shorter clip "Save NYC Horse Carriages, narrated by Liam Neeson"

  3. This is so stereotypical. The carriage driver reminded me when Black Beauty was sold to the cab driver and abused. No compassion for the animal that makes him his living. Glad more humane people came upon the scene.

  4. I hope that these horrific images in a city like NY will open the eyes of those who support this "activity". It is a shame to our "advanced 21st century" society. I can't even imagine the daily stress and suffering of this horse.

  5. Horrified onlookers told local news that Ryder was bleeding and appeared malnourished and dehydrated. Authorities who arrived on the scene doused the suffering animal with water in an attempt to lower his body temperature and also administered a shot of adrenaline. When the horse could finally stand, he was taken to a veterinarian for emergency treatment, with news reporting numerous wounds visible following his collapse.

Reports also note that bystanders witnessed the horse in distress and having trouble walking hours before the incident.

  6. Unacceptable how this guy is treating Ryder the horse!! Also, it’s unacceptable how billions of innocent animals are unnecessarily tortured and murdered in slaughter houses every minute of the day

  7. so far this 21st century has been a disappointment. We don't seem to be able to evolve into something better. Still killing each other, still abusing other species. Is this the best we can be?

  8. I believe. Ryder the collapse old standardbred NY carriage horse. Should be checked for breathing problems. I seen pitcher's of him standing around un harnessed. Puffing like heevey. If so so called veterinarian was letting him work need to boot that veterinarian to the curb. He jeopardize the families of NYC
