Victory at Sea



Recording from The Franklin Band’s Annual Spring Concert in the auditorium of Franklin Borough School. This concert was recorded on May 20th 2022. Conducted by Judy Bobiak with Associate Conductor Scott Tomlin.

1. Rolling waves and warships speeding to their destinations
2. Tranquil waves and calm until enemy submarines approach
3. “Beneath the Southern Cross” a tango depicting battles in the South Pacific
4. March celebrating the Marines who held off the enemy on the Guadalcanal
5. “Sunny Pacific Islands” sailors and soldiers enjoying the calm before battle
6. “The Approaching Enemy” carrier fleet steaming towards the island
7. The Attack
8. “Death and Debris” aftermath of the battle, damaged planes returning to their ships, a solo trumpet sumbolizes death at sea
9. “The Hymn of Victory”
10. “Big Waves” the ships returning home after the war has ended

The Franklin Band is always seeking new members. We accept musicians of all ages from Eighth Grade well into their seventies and eighties. Whether you would like to play in the Concert Band or Marching Band (or BOTH!), we have a place for you. SO, DUST OFF THAT OLD HORN AND COME OUT AND PLAY!!!
