Wow, I was just at a funeral and someone came to view the deceased, snapped a photo of them in the casket and left- so bothersome i thought!
I mourned for over three years and yes I took photos of my husband after death…He looked beautiful and peaceful.
I remember growing up that when a family member passed the house where they lived on the front door a type of acknowledgment of a death was posted. The practice stopped bc robbers would victimize the homes while the family was at the funeral services. I believe it was in the 50s.
I wanted a picture of my mom in her coffin but I was afraid to do it. Also I carry tremendous guilt because my my mom wanted that song Spirit In The Sky played at her funeral and her cousin, who was her frenemy, and considered herself a better Christian than my mom, when really she is just an extremist, heard the first couple of notes of the song and made them shut it off! My people revere our elders and so it would have been a huge deal for me to stand up to her and demand the song to be played so I said nothing but now I am filled with regret. I wish at the very least I would have got up and sang it.😥
