Vegetable Garden Walkthrough – Zona 6a – SW Ohio – May 2023

A full walkthrough through our brand new vegetable garden in SW Ohio, zone 6a. We moved to our new property last fall and spent the winter working hard to make sure we could still have a garden in 2023. We went from a barren patch of land to twelve 4×12 foot raised beds, a straw bale garden, in ground beds, apple trees and raspberries. The garden is still in its infancy, with plans for a greenhouse, fencing (of course!) as well as additional trees in the orchard. We plan on doing a mid summer update in approximately 6 weeks, so subscribe to see the update! If you enjoyed the video, let us know in the comments, we’d love to hear from you!

  1. Beautiful setup. Looks amazing. I am doing a garden for the first time and planted a lot of the same things. Great to learn and see what others are doing. Best of luck this year.

  2. Very nice garden ! I was born in Dayton and lived there 15 years . I’ve been I the South Georgia/ North Florida area since 1980 . Gardening is different here as our extreme heat and humidity makes it difficult to grow tomatoes past July 1st . Peppers , okra , sweet potatoes and southern peas will grow through the heat . I can grow a second crop of tomatoes and beans etc . planted in august and they will produce well into late November early December. Carrots , broccoli, lettuce, onions and various greens will produce all winter into spring. We have to split up into specific seasons but can grow something year round but my favorite thing is tomatoes and it’s difficult with the heat .

  3. Gorgeous garden, gorgeous property, and an amazing garden is such a short time my friend. You've also done very well in a short time on YouTube! You and your family are very fortunate to be living my dream 🙂 If you ever get a chance, try some of the dwarf tomatoes from the dwarf tomato project. There are lots of good ones, and most of them only get from 3 to 5 feet tall. Two of my favorites are Rosella Purple, and Boronia. Good luck with the rest of the season!
