Vault of Death: The THUNDERBIRDS Mini-Album Edit (Lady Penelope and Parker Adventure)

In this abbreviated presentation of the Thunderbirds episode “Vault of Death” we present a visual representation of the 1960s vinyl mini-album, which cut the episode down to a brisk pace.

In this specially prepared edit with newly filmed material, Lady Penelope (Sylvia Anderson) recounts the story of how she and Parker race to save a life at the Bank of England.

During the 1960s, the soundtracks of select episodes of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s Thunderbirds were abbreviated and then supplemented with new in-character narration for release on a series of vinyl mini-albums. In recent years, new visuals were created by members of our team in order to bring this shortened, but no less exciting, version of the episode to life. What differences can you spot?

About Us:

About Me:
Century 21 Films Ltd is a multi-faceted production company whose work spans drama to documentary, miniature effects to puppet shows. It was founded by a group of filmmakers who first collaborated on Filmed in Supermarionation, the story of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s hit puppet shows including Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet.

Since then, we have worked for a multitude of high-profile clients including ITV, BBC, Mammoth Productions, British Film Institute and the Halifax working on projects such Thunderbirds, Endeavour, Doctor Who and The Twilight Zone.

In addition to our regular filmmaking services, we specialise in ‘Supermarionation’ – the puppetry filming technique used to make shows like Thunderbirds and have collaborated with ITV repeatedly to provide specialised services. Our work has been featured on The One Show, This Morning, Good Morning Britain, BBC News, ITV News and Mastermind.

  1. Well at least in this "Vault of Death" episode that we did got to see Parker's backstory when he was in prison with Light-Fingered Fred before he join International Rescue. I just wished that the Jerry Anderson team have made a special length episode/film of the Thunderbirds origins back in the 60s because I always wanted to know how this whole thing began and why Jeff Tracy decided to create International Rescue team in the first place.

  2. Lady Penelope: Would you like Parker to take your briefcase?

Lord Silton: No, thank you. It never leaves my side, you know. Everywhere I go. Good heavens!

Lady Penelope: What's that noise? What is it?

Lord Silton: It's the emergency call system. I am wanted at the bank immediately.

Lady Penelope: Emergency? You mean the bank has been robbed?

    Lord Silton: It could be.

    Parker: Bank robbery?

    Lord Silton: You clumsy nincompoop!

  3. When I was about 7,8,9 I must have played my album with the Thunderbirds episode "Trapped in the Sky" on one side and some Captain Scarlet episode on the other side to death. I'm pretty sure I still have it stashed away upstairs somewhere.

  4. TB2's thrusters were always in the wrong place….didn't notice it when I was a little kid though. And that's the point really isn't it? A kid's TV show……the BEST TV kid's show ever made.

  7. There are not many. A hairstyle here or there was all I picked up on, and that was only after several viewings. Excellently done! This is an overwhelmingly seamless blend of existing footage and newly-shot scenes.
