Remember: This continues and worse if the NSW Liberals are re elected. If Labor is elected this ends permanently. Please vote accordingly.
Moist areas
It Would be great if you could present both sides without prejudice towards either and make sure that those you interview are not bending the truth.
What exactly is this timber being used for?
This is so depressing
This is just.. beyond heartbreaking.
Another piece of amazing journalism mr Shanks. I literally teared up. I can’t believe anyone could ever do this, let alone commission and endorse this sort of thing.
The short sightedness of what our politicians are doing is horrific
congratulation on 1M jordi !
Paul Keating is right.
What the absolute fuck! They are cutting it down then poisoning the land just to make sure it never grows back! What possible benefit could there be to that?
What would, theoretically, be the best way to destroy one of those machines without leaving evidence or starting a fire? All theoretical of course….
No use tagging Melinda Pavey, she retires next week…
Mr Kemp will be the new NP representative in Oxley, hopefully in opposition. The majority of ppl in this area always vote NP, it's ingrained in their DNA.
Great story mate im in gippsland so they've already done it here.is it true that the local government bought the mill to save 10 jobs then secured there next term
By law, there should be records for the application of herbicides – date, time, prevailing weather, etc. That should be looked into to see a. are they keeping proper record of what they are doing? b. did they apply the herbicides legally?
You think it's bad in NSW? Try the NT.
This hurts…like alot.
This gave me the same feeling as I got when I was 15 and my german exchange family took me on a small trip to see the Garzweiler surface mine
but where will the greenies plant bamboo if they dont cut down all the trees?
you cant make "renewable" "green" products out of bamboo if there are aussie forests growing in your bamboo fields
For fuck sake how stupid are we this should not let this happen again. 🤬🤬
That’s beyond depressing – so who are the beneficiaries of this? I really don’t know, will research
This is so heartbreaking that this shit is still happening and destroying our old trees and forests, it is most definitely a murder scene. Thank you Jordan for showing how this is happening in our country because so many just dont seem to care
I am sick to Fucken death of corruption around the world. 🤬
Can you put it on fb so I can share it to show all my friends how thus is one of many reasons not to vote these maggots back in btw I live near coffs so my back door and didn't even know about. I grew up in Sydney so most of my friends are there. Got my 18 yo son to watch so he could also spread the word to his friends.

😢😢
This is F'ing disgusting. If only more people understood what these vial people were doing.
As if destroying it all wasn't bad enough, poisoning it all with herbicides too? What the hell!!!
How can we help? What can we do as individuals? I cannot comprehend how this is allowed in 2023 😭💔
if the rain runoff is no longer being absorbed by the rainforests, what are the chances they will cause river floods in those areas or further down?
Government should be ashamed of themselves.
Im sharing the f out of this
Fuck,I hate the liberal party with a fuckin passion
An American here, can't really talk from a judgmental standpoint but this is heartbreaking to see happen. I feel like the money cost of preservation isn't the issue in these cases, it's more about missing out on short term cash grabs. Makes you wonder how much money was being pushed at the politicians during their elections from the loggers.
Leaders who chase short term money surges rather than long-term benefits. It's all fine and dandy until people check in a few decades down the road and find out the damage is irreparable. And this issue is universal.
bruh
Saying "It's like Borneo or Tasmania" hit home. Source: I've seen this for decades in Tasmania.
This is harrowing to see and its truly depressing to know the damage will never be undone. Whats worst of all is knowing it was done for money by people with no empathy for how it will affect the continent as a whole because the corrupt officials legalizing it say its ok
this deserves a comment for the algorithm
Im not disagreeing with you guys and I can see the ham fisted approach they took to doing this, but the sad truth is, we need wood for a lot of things, we have since the dawn of civilization. There is no alternative, plastics and metals requires just as much if not more damage to the environment to produce so they aren't an option. So what can be done, how do we obtain the resources we require without ruining the earth? It has to come from somewhere.
I’ve been to places where massive logging operations are taking places and it didn’t look like a dying place
Edit: seen this video makes me want to become Australian just to vote for a chage
I survey an awful lot of timber. Its wild the effects of the logging industry. I'm cool with selective logging and clear cutting shit areas where we've previously logged it, planted it, and then failed to thin/burn the understory. Thankfully forest service and state lands don't log as much as private timber. Private timber will clear the whole world one day. Then Mars is next
That doesn’t seem too bad. In Texas there’s just acres of mud where forest used to be because of the demand for housing.
