  1. The Valerie story is like this little side thing that doesn't even really matter to the overall plot but it's so well done and beautiful and touching. Many movies spend an hour creating a relationship and with less emotion than Ruth and Valerie had.

  2. My favourite little detail is Sutlers eyes.
    Specifically his absurdly dilated pupils.
This could be due to a brain injury or tumour but the more likely explanation is drugs. Probably stimulants which would match his manic tone and create another connection to hitler.

  3. 37:52 Oh. Son of a gun. Looks like you've never seen any movies from the Matrix series. That's the movie that first brought the Wachowskis to my attention. They've both transitioned by now, so nowadays, they would be the Wachowski sisters, but they've always had a knack for getting to your feels.

  4. ..imagine watching it during the "plandemic", and knowing when the movie was made.. It is one of my all time favourite movies of all time.. ..and Hugo Weaving, in my opinion, as " V ", was fantastic ! It is hard to express behind a mask and costume, such different sensitivities.. I almost like him here, like in The Matrix, as Agent Smith..

  5. The real Guy Fawkes made sure to break his neck when they hung him so he wouldn't be alive when they drawn and quartered him but of course in the movie a squirming man on the end of the rope is more dramatic.

  7. This is a very powerful movie, which was perfect for the time that it came out. Even back in the Bush era, when I was in college, this was a very striking message. Thank you for bringing it to the general YouTube population, given this year's Fifth of November.

  8. "Is it meaningless to apologize?"
    "Never."

Still hits like a freight train after all these years. She is the personification of V's television speech – that while everyone is corruptible, it doesn't make them irredeemable; they can still choose to do the right thing. He couldn't let her live after what she'd done, but he knew her actions weighed heavily on her soul. It's why he killed her humanely, why he kept using her first name, and why he allowed her to repent. Best scene in the entire movie.
