As someone who works with jets, let me tell you that these are the future, and traditional fighters with pilots are slowly becoming a thing of the past, drones are cheap. Advanced, and expendable, fighters and pilots are not. Slowly, drones will be outfitted with larger, more powerful load outs, larger fuel reserves for extended missions, they are smaller, more stealthy, and much quieter, not to mention the fact that a sophisticated air defence missile will be more expensive than the drone itself, further depleting enemy resources. This is the future
Drones must reach a level of sophistication that allows them to fully autonomously lead a war of decision making without the interaction of humans. And the race for it is taking place now. Because the PLA and many other states have much more industrial resources compared to the USA or the west. So what we are seeing now is unprecedented in history. The one winning the war of drones will win the ongoing war for supremacy. After the second world war, which was fought in the military side, the adversaries never stopped to fight each other. The next step of this race for supremacy is in full outreach to be seen in the development of the drone technology. The one winning this industrial race will win global supremacy. The PLA has the whole industrial complex on its side. The USA or Europa are mostly de-industrialised.
