US Senate approves AUKUS in legislation ‘game changer’

The US Senate has passed legislation to approve the transfer of American submarines and technology to Australia.

The legislation was described as a “game changer” to counter China’s growing influence in the Pacific.

The bill includes the scope to train Australian defence personnel to work on nuclear-powered Virginia Class submarines.

It’s expected two subs will be transferred to Australia as part of the wide-ranging AUKUS deal before construction of the rest of the fleet begins in Adelaide.

The US House of Representatives is set to follow the Senate’s lead and pass the bill next week.

  1. Of course, 'Rally the Troops'. Like a creepy old man, a van & a bag of boiled lollies.
Billions down the same MIC black hole as Ukraine, paying for yachts in Monaco.
Bet ya, $1000 now. Billions in cost blowouts, overruns &/or disappointed abandonment..like Ukraine. 🤡🌏
As Apollo Creed in Rocky once quoted, 'Dumped like a bad habit'.

  2. It's mind boggling that Australia 🇦🇺 has successfully acquired a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.
    – What Australia got is an enormous firepower in the form of the most advanced and lethal fighting machine humans can build.

  3. So, since most of the sub fleet will be constructed in Adelaide, each sub will cost around 6 trillion each? As you have to take in the ridiculous cost of the Labor Unions the project attracts. Such as awake pay, walking pay, step the left pay, passing pay, breathing pay, not breathing pay, lunch pay, second lunch pay, just to name a few extra pay categories.
