I don't recall Tesla ever did anything with lasers or even was aware of the principle.

Also, Nikola Tesla himself said, over and over, that his invention was NOT a ray. Absolutely not any kind of beam. Instead, it's a stream of tiny mercury droplets, or tungsten particles. A dust-stream, not a "death ray." Tesla said that "death rays" won't work, because the beam spreads out over distance. To create a destructive weapon, Tesla used tiny physical objects, propelled at immense velocities.
Earthquake machine: heavily patented, anyone can build their own from those plans. Yet nobody did …until 1979, when a Boeing worker made these (but used dense tungsten pistons, not Tesla's cast iron.) He found that, when attached to an I-beam, the ends of the steel beam would vibrate in a blur. If the I-beam was placed vertically, it would liquify the soil, and sink into the ground under its own weight. Today the guy lives in a mansion, and the "Earthquake Machine" is a billion-dollar industry, used as silent vibratory pile-drivers in large construction projects.
But this suggests that Tesla never claimed to have shaken any buildings apart. Instead, if attached to a main support-beam, the beam would rapidly sink, with tilting floors, and the building being collapsed in a matter of seconds. (Tesla describes his heavy equipment as sliding all around, and his needing to stop the device instantly, otherwise the whole structure would be "down around his ears." Yep, a pile-driver effect, employing soil-liquification, and not a building-shaker.)
