US Navy, Air Force making waves with new weapons at RIMPAC

This year’s Rim of the Pacific exercises — more commonly known as RIMPAC — saw several notable accomplishments. RIMPAC is the world’s largest maritime warfare exercise, designed to prepare the U.S. and its allies for war in one of the most massive places on the planet: the Pacific Ocean.

  1. How is quicksink different than a PJDAM? PJDAMs are cheap, 20-30k with 300 mile range. Are we ordering large volumes of quicksink in the budget? Matt Pottinger recommended ordering large quantities of PJDAMs in his book The Boiling Moat. LRASM is way too expensive and is not being ordered in sufficient quantities.

  2. It is interesting while they’re attempting to limit our constitutional right to basic hand guns, they’re designing weapons that can wipe out nearly an entire city block… using our tax dollars, no less; you’re welcome!!

  3. I'm all for combined arms warfare and unifying command and data, but just be careful, if you unify too much under 1 leader and that leader decides to go rogue or makes mistakes, entire armies can be lost. Let's not forget about the Horus Heresy, ego is a dangerous drug.

  4. 4:46 The SM-6 has a discarded booster rocket first stage that the AIM-174B does not, so the missile's effective range is probably pretty comparable, depending on the launch platform's kinematic energy at time of launch (the F/A-18 isn't exactly a speed demon, so primarily just altitude).

If the Navy wanted to they could probably wing mount the entire SM-6, but the almost double weight and with the much higher drag of the short squat booster it likely wasn't worth the trade off in reduced aircraft performance and carrying capacity.

Perhaps in the future they'll marry the AIM-174B with a first stage booster of the same diameter as the missile itself and call it the AIM-174LR.

  5. Right now, RIMPAC is about defending Taiwan. It will take days for the US fleet to get in combat range so Taiwan will be mostly on its own until then. Maybe the B-2s with QuickSink can be deployed fast enough to make a difference but most likely the battle will be over before the US fleet gets there.

  6. The US navy can't even stop the Houthis from blockading Israel through the red sea.

The Houthis don't even have a navy.

Just a few months ago the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower got struck by a Houthi anti ship missile and had to return to base for repairs after a couple of US sailors for hurt and the ship suffered some significant damage.

The Mainstream media went into total news suppression of the story, but we found out.

80% of all the trade thst used to flow through Israel's largest port has ceased.

The mainstream media is also suppressing this news thst the Israeli economy is on its knees partially because of this.

If the US navy can't even stop a Houthi blockade of the Red Sea of Israel how the hell are they going to defeat a Chinese blockade of Taiwan or defeat China in the South China Sea.

    Just some food for thought.

Furthermore, Pentagon officials testified before congress that 40% of all semi conductors used in US weapons are manufacturered in Mainland China.

I can guarantee that a huge portion of the other 60% are manufactured in Taiwan.

The United States does not have the industrial manufacturing capacity base to fight against a peer competitor.

China industrial capacity is larger than the next 9 countries combined.

China manufacturers 12x more steel, 200x more shipping tonnage and graduates 7x more scientists, mathematicians, engineers, technicians, and has 4 times more people than the United States.

You can look at all your pretty toys in your navy but winning peer to peer war takes a lot more than toys.

It takes industrial manufacturing capacity, access to natural resources and man power.

Remember thst at the beginning of WWII the Japanese had the best navy in the world.

Then the United States mobilized its entire industrial manufacturing capacity then and the rest is history.

Thr United States used to be China in the pre WWII era.

The undisputed industrial manufacturing power of the world.

Today the United States is Japan and China is the United States when it comes to industrial manufacturing capacity.
