  1. I would not launch missiles from a submarine when torpedoes are available and the opposition has any significant AAW or ASW capability, since it immediately destroys all stealth for a lower hit probability. Torpedoes allow the sub to retain some stealth in most conditions, cannot be shot down, are very difficult for a surface target to evade once acquired, and provides a sort of area denial.
With only 4 tubes, the Harpoons will not even make an unescorted Kirov manoeuvre. They are basically for attacking merchant shipping or poking targets outside of torpedo range.

  2. The A6's of lizard flights, split formation upon going winchester, so the 1's you ordered to 50ft went to 50ft but it was just those 1's, you had to order them all individually. It's a dumb mechanic of the game where a flight splits up to RTB when they're all RTB'ing

  3. I figured I'd comment something that I have noticed other people doing with regards to the use of F-14's to defend against Incoming Anti-Ship. Place the F-14's on Weapons Free, they will go after them on their own. Also, the use of EMCON after witnessing the Soviet SAG via the SSN didn't help since you started with radars on as they already would've know your relative positioning meaning the radars starting on would've assisted with getting the SAM defense from the ships out faster, regardless of if the Soviets didn't know your relative position.

  4. There's a lot to learning modern naval doctrine. You'll learn to prioritize. That will improve your survival.

    1. EMCON, until you know you're detected. Once they know where you are, light off everything. But until then, use offboard sensors. AWACS if you got em.
    2. Neutralize the ASW threat first, especially if you're operating a carrier group. The S-3s and Sea Kings are fantastic sub hunters. Use dipping sonar if you have it.
    3. Find and fix the enemy. RA-5s are great recon platforms. Not sure if F-14s with TARPs are modeled, but those are useful as well.
    4. The Prowlers are stand off jammers. You don't have to risk them versus enemy SAMs.
    5. The A-7s are best used as anti-radiation launchers. Not good versus AAA gunfire and short range SAMs. Think of them as naval A-10s.
    6. Harpoons and Tomahawk ASMs are easy to shoot down. You'll lose half of them every time, so figure out how many you'll need versus the target, and multiply by 2. Attack from multiple vectors and calculate for ToT to maximize their potential.
    7. Passive sonar degrades a great deal with speed. Best to sprint and drift with towed arrays.
    8. Never use dumb bombs against SAM platforms 😁

Keep going! I'm enjoying you learning this game. 🤙

  5. Hey Cap, Fly and Pony, that was so much fun to watch and very intense at the same time. By the way, I am not sure if it was commented already: Cap, you did order "maximum speed" to so many aircraft, without ordering them to climb to a higher altitude, where they would even be faster. Maybe I am mistaking here, but I guess you could shift the flights quicker on 20.000+ ft.
Looking forward to the next Sea Power Live Battle 👌

  6. Fyi just a few shortcuts
    Ceasefire – X
    RTB -T
    CTRL -Small grid buoys (9)
Alt – medium grid buoys (9)
Ctrl and alt – large grid buoys (16)
All the above plus shift – you can stack orders.

  7. Think the torp issue might be fixed with the newest update, saw this in the Notes:
Torpedoes used AimPointGeoPosition to determine FOV but the seeker gudance still used Vector3 intercept position

  8. I think a real issue with this game is that its single player. Caps making and having to inplement EVERY decision from strategic course planning to individual pilots firing. Fly and other guy (sorry forgot name) are talking and that can just become a noise when you are thinking about something. I think heavy using of the pause key is justified in this game for this reason. Lets hope ( or dream) the devs can come up with a multiplayer solution. Remember carrier command…

  9. You guys should switch off between Pony and Fly giving orders in a video this long, would have fun to see the difference between styles…..like switch off every 30mins or whatever….or DL, just listen to one solely for x amount of time.

  10. lol why do you get so panicked. It’s like you forget instantly how to play once under some pressure. All subs will align to firing alt by themselves. If you make a mistake either cease fire or weapons hold to reset. Hover over depth to see thermal layer depth.

Sub Brief YT channel has a video on the Alfa and is done by a slightly biased US submariner, but he is not completely blinded by nationalism, Alfa was better than every Torpedo the US had in its inventory. It was simply faster than the torps the US had to throw at it. It held this dvantage for 2 decades before the US finally made the MK 48 ADCAP which entered service in 1987
