In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don’t always put a positive spin on humanshumanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

  10. TF is it with slavery? This is the 21st century, not the 16th. Most nations are plagued by rising unemployment, due to automation. There are not enough jobs for all. As technology progresses, there will be fewer and fewer jobs,mainly specialists and scientists.
    Why would an FTL civilisation need slaves? The worker of the future, will be a drone operator, mainly to avoid damaging the machine by mishandling it.
    Salves are for when you don't have machines. Or the resources to make machines.

  14. Uplifted = forever slaves in their bureaucracy, regardless of whether the species advanced later on, and ignoring the fact that some of those uplifted species would have developed FTL on their own if given a little more time.

  21. In a society without the printing press, cast systems make sense. Good leadership requires education, and education requires the dissemination of knowledge. When a book needs to be hand copied, this is very difficult and prohibitively expensive. It is far more efficient to pass knowledge down from parent to child and have the child inherit their parent's profession.

    Once you can cheaply disseminate information, you can begin cheaply educating the masses. The first groups of public teachers will train the next generation and this will exponentially grow with each successive generation. Once you have an established education system, a restrictive class system no longer makes sense. Talent for governance can potentially pop up anywhere. To restrict a genius who is just the child of a cobbler the opportunity to learn and exhibit their strength robs both that person of their potential, and the country of the benefits.
