  1. This is one of the superman stories I don’t like as it’s too hammy and lovey of the character with a lot of plot holes but I appreciate hearing why others appreciate it because overall it’s not terrible. Thanks for the video 👌🏽

  2. Excellent video Tom kings DC work has been very divisive with me I love his Superman and supergirl stories as well as his collabs with Mitch Gerard's. But I hate his Batman run his roarschach series. But Superman up up and away is a masterwork of a Superman story. I want him to tackle a Superman ongoing

  3. I agree…Superman-Up in the Sky is an amazing tale, and in just a few books both a reminder of what true heroes look like and what comics today generally as stories, are not.

  4. Tbh I think Superman is a bit boring. He's way too perfect, way too strong, he has too many different superpowers. You can shoot Batman point blank, but you can't hurt Superman. But this story? Boy oh boy, it's an amazing one. After this comic I took real interest in this character. It really depends on the writer, so far I only liked All Star Superman before reading it.

  5. These out of continuity Superman stories like Tom King's Up in the Sky, and Robert Venditti's Man of Tomorrow instantly became favorites of mine with their portrayal of Superman. Where one feels like an epic celebration, the other feels like a binge of something along the lines of The Animated Series. I highly recommend both to anyone looking for great Superman stories.

  6. I never tire of Kubert art. It's funny that, although a one-off. King seemed to have a much better grasp of Superman than Batman. A run that should have been, perhaps?

  7. Sorry. Hard disagree. Tom King doesn't get Superman. Superman is my favorite DC hero, and I was very excited to see Andy Kubert draw Superman, but I could not finish this thing. The only thing by King that I've liked is Mister Miracle. He's incredibly overrated IMO. I hated King's voice for Clark in this story. The only redeeming quality is Andy Kubert's art. I would love to see Kubert work with either Geoff Johns, or Phillip Kennedy Johnson on a Superman story. Those two writers actually get Superman. Anyone who makes Superman mercy kill another living being does not get the character. Superman finds a way. King has a habit of breaking characters in most of his stories, this was no different. Clark has a shrunken city in his fortress because he refused to let the citizens of Kandor perish. There's no way in hell that he would just mercy kill an alien. Clark does not trade lives.

  8. This is definitely a great Superman story that not only challenges Superman as a person and a hero, but it shows how special Superman is and why he's the greatest superhero of all time. Great analysis video about a great Superman story.
