  1. Is this a joke? Drew with England and Wales and barely beat Iran whislt only scoring 2 goals yet this is success when you should have got through the group when you've got a better team then Wales and Iran

  3. Who wants to play this US team right now? Nobody. That should tell you all you need to know about how well this team is performing.

I don't know who will win the US vs. Netherlands game. Nobody will be surprised if the Netherlands win. But there will not be very many that will be surprised if the US wins. And that shows that this team has earned some respect from other teams and from the pundits.

  5. Against what odds? The U.S. has the best funding federation and is staying at the best resort out of all teams in Qatar. The U.S. has everything you would need to succeed. Iran is the team that went against all odds

  6. Tip of the Hat to Coach Berthalter, he's absolutely doing an outstanding job. This young USMNT is playing smart, composed, calculated, precise. Something noticeable is that in the first half they study their opponents to find their weakness. Might look a bit boring but very effective.

  7. "Against all odds"?

We were favored to go through, we had a very fortunate draw, our best players weren't two washed up guys in their 30s who had to play 3 games over 9 days , and our players weren't threatened by their own government.

We have over 100 TIMES the population of Wales and they are a rugby country, not a soccer country.

We have nearly 4 times the population of Iran, many many times more resources invested in our development program than Iran does, all of our top players play with good clubs in large leagues in Europe and haven't played against players playing in leagues as mediocre as Iran's domestic league outside of maybe early rounds of the FA Cup and similar Cups in the other countries. The MLS would be ranked much higher than Iran's league.
Our only impressive result was holding England scoreless (thanks to Harry Kane for blowing a sure goal in stoppage time).

It would have been a monumental failure if the USMNT had NOT advanced.

I'm happy we won, but we were GOLIATH in two out of our three games and came away with a 1-0 win and a draw.
