United In Defeat! | Barcelona 4-2 Tottenham: Post-Match Analysis Podcast x Van De Ven & Veliz Sign!

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by a returning bumper returning regular panel in Lee McQueen, Richard Cracknell, Jason McGovern and Patrick Tyrant as we review a much-changed Tottenham side showing plenty of promise but the clubโ€™s pre-season ultimately ended in defeat as Barcelona won 4-2 to lift the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Robert Lewandowski gave the hosts a very early lead in Spain, but Spurs responded impressively and turned it around by half-time as Oliver Skipp scored twice in just over ten minutes. The second of those looked like being the winner as the visitors remained in front heading into the final ten minutes, but three Barcelona goals ensured they won their traditional curtain-raiser for the 11th year in a row.

We also discuss the signings of Van de Ven, 22, from Wolfsburg for an initial 40m euros (ยฃ34m) which could rise to a reported 50m euros (ยฃ43m) with add-ons.Veliz, 19, has joined the London club from Rosario Central for a reported ยฃ13m fee subject to a work permit. Both players have signed six-year contracts at Tottenham. They are Tottenhamโ€™s fourth and fifth summer signings respectively following the arrivals of England midfielder James Maddison, Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and Israel winger Manor Solomon.

  1. This B team thing might need to be rexonsidered…the system spurs are playing now is so different we don't really know yet who would be in Anges prefered A team..half of the line up today made a good case for themselves

  2. 10 years ago Ange managed a Brisbane Roar side that was dubbed "Roarcelona" such was their style of play. Today it seemed Ange adopted those principles and dominated Barcelona away from home for 80 minutes. Superb.

  3. Jason really needs to accept the reality. Spurs will finish mid table cos of our defence. The reality will be there to see. For me itโ€™s the cups , that will be our salvation

  4. The point Jason makes about VdV is so important. You need new players to freshen things up but also for players themselves, moving on is sometimes the best thing to escape the negativity that honest mistakes creates in a 60k stadium of fans.

  5. Never seen any manager for any team make such an immediate impact on the entire squads performance. Reading these comments without knowing, you would not in a million years think we lost 4-2. These are not the spurs fans I know and love ๐Ÿคฃ The tables are definitely on the turn. #COYS WEDONTSTOPTECOGLU

  6. I think some of you need to actually look at Sanchez's defending for the goals. There was nothing good about it.

Making some good tackles doesn't then give him a free pass.

He wasn't the worst, the so called captain in the middle takes that badge.
