Unintended – Muse | Nantas & NAN

You might think I grew up in a cave (metaphorically speaking), as I did not know this song until a year ago ^^) This was quite the discovery: I instantly liked the very “MUSEy” melody, the simple but accurate lyrics – you can never totally decide whether they are hopeful or desperate, and the mix of strenght and vulnerability it conveys.
The singer seems to be about to choose healthy, deep and balanced love over destructive passion… or at least to stand at the crossroads between neverending despair and budding, healing love.

It was released by Muse as the final single from their 1999 debut album, Showbiz.

Big thanks to Nantas, who, in addition to playing amazingly three instruments and helping me with the recording and the editing, provided the keyboard sheet music.

Lyrics

You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You could be the one I’ll always love

You could be the one who listens
To my deepest inquisitions
You could be the one I’ll always love

I’ll be there as soon as I can
But I’m busy mending broken
Pieces of the life I had before

First there was the one who challenged
All my dreams and all my balance
He [originally, “she”] could never be as good as you

You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You should be the one I’ll always love

I’ll be there as soon as I can
But I’m busy mending broken
Pieces of the life I had before

I’ll be there as soon as I can
But I’m busy mending broken
Pieces of the life I had before

Before you

  1. Gorgeous NAN!! I was out of breath! A splendid interpretation! Your voice is getting better and better and is also taking on a very professional tone. Great job also by Nantas in everything, including the mixing which is really excellent!! The final quote from The Lord of the Rings is also appropriate. 👍❤👍
