  1. Ned was still a good shot he just didn’t want to kill anyone anymore. I love how realistic this movie is about the weight of killing someone. I never killed anyone but even I know it does something to you wether you want to or not. You might go years or even your whole life before you realize it, but killing someone takes something out of you, does something to you, and even when it’s justified it still does something to you it’s a hell of a thing to kill a man. We can drink and act like it’s nothing and try to just laugh it off but it’s something awful to kill someone even if you gotta do it in some situations.✌️🫡
That’s one of my fav movies of all time love the lines and scenes so realistic and wise!

  2. "Deserves got nothing to do with it" is such a great line and the entire theme of this film. Delilah didn't deserve to be cut up. Davey didn't deserve to die for what his friend did. Ned didn't deserve to die, he didn't kill anyone. This is such a great "modern" western, and one of my favorite Eastwood films. I love the end with the contrast of him riding off into the dark, stormy night then the beautiful sunset and his wife's grave with the beautiful music. A good woman changed a bad man.

  3. I view this movie as a train of people being unforgiven. The cowboy didn't forgive the whore for laughing at his small penis. The whores didn't forgive the cowboy for cutting up the whore. Little Bill didn't forgive English Bob for entering the town armed intent on killing the cowboy. Little Bill didn't forgive Ned for being and assassin and not telling him what he wanted to know. William didn't forgive Ned for killing Ned. William didn't forgive Greely for displaying Ned's body.

  4. You totally missed why Ned couldn’t finish shooting the cowboy.
Ned couldn’t go back to the way they used to be. He’d been civilized for too long. He didn’t have it in his heart to kill anymore. Nothing to do with his skill.

  5. This story was about people trying to be what they weren't. Will was trying to be a man or peace, but he was a killer. The Kid was trying to be a killer, but he was a scared boy trying to feel big. Bill was trying to be a lawman but he was a bully and a thug.

  6. Westerns are the best. The history, the scenery, and a story that has all the ingredients for top notch entertainment. It's almost impossible to find a bad western movie.

    Shane
    The Searchers
    Red River
    Jeremiah Johnson
    High Noon
Destry Rides Again 1939 …these are some of the very best.

  7. Eastwood’s character is purposely a contradiction to the swaggering, macho tough guys in past Westerns. He’s shown to be nothing special when sober, but when drinking he’s a cruel, vicious killer. I’m sure you’ve heard of mean drunks. William Munney became a killer. He doesn’t drink until he finds out that Ned has been killed. Little Bill’s monologue when English Bob is in jail is important too. He talks about speed not necessarily being the difference in a gunfight, but being the most cool headed. It’s what separates these killers from everyone else. Little Bill had that, while all his deputies didn’t. That’s why in the final scene after Little Bill is wounded, you have a drunk William Munney calmly shooting down the deputies who are panicking and can’t hit anything. That fear is also why the deputy at the end can’t fire and he’s allowed to ride out of town.

  8. This movie won 4 Academy Awards: Best Editing, Best Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman – the sheriff), Best Director (Clint Eastwood) & Best Picture. The only other Western that won Best Picture is Dances With Wolves (1990).

  9. Y'all should check out The Outlaw Josey Wells, another Clint Eastwood movie and Jeremiah Johnson with Robert Redford. Both are excellent movies. I really think you'll like them. As always, great reaction.

  10. Best line in the movie…”any man don’t wanna be killed best head on out the back”…..and then everyone immediately stands up and starts walking out the back door 😂😂😂
