Unboxing and Testing the used parts from Jawa (and an issue that could be a problem for customers)

Everything arrived from the Used Parts Marketplace on Jawa… lets see if everything came as described, and if the parts actually work! Also, we need to talk about a policy change that would make the site safer for customers.

  1. When I looked last, I saw a ton of "used" or "like new" parts that were listed either at or over the current listed price for a lot of new parts. Maybe that was lingering BF/CM sales, but I can say that I wasn't impressed.

  2. 9:50 I have been trying to get my cable detached so I can use rearrange the cables on the back and try to do some better cable management, but for the life of me I cannot get the thing off. If anyone has any tips, that'd be great (MSI Gamin Plus WiFi X670E on the bottom slot inside of a Phanteks XT Pro, very little clearance down there)

  3. Jay, on your comments regarding the "inadequate buyer protection", I wonder if JAWA could implement a way to "build a PC" instead of buying individual components. I could see a way they could possibly setup a database with similar functionality to PC Part Picker, build their ideal PC through dropdowns and checklists, and review available parts based on the inputs. Buyer then chooses each individual part required for their build, which is then added to the cart as a single item. The buyer protection for that single cart item would then start begin only once all items have been received by the buyer. At least then they don't have to change their policy but it's still not entirely unfair for the buyer. 30 days would probably be ideal though.. I guess just use PayPal?

  4. For me, just a little dirty is a good sign in used parts. It usually means you got a good deal. Clean means you either over paid or got scammed. Also, cleaning can introduce problems and damage the item if you don't know what you are doing. I tend to buy from e-waste recyclers for the best deal, because they will invest very little in labor in checking items, apart from will it power on. (e-bay) Second is charities, there you get volunteers to check items and sell items to raise money, so you will usually get a graded item.

  5. what happens if the seller sends legit working parts, and the buyer does something to damage them? then tells jawa it wasn't working when they got it? buyers can be shady too.. and not all damage is visible of course.

  6. I bought a full high end system from a seller on jawa. 9800x3d and 4090. The seller was prompt to respond and i got exactly what was advertised. All in all it was a good experience and I will likely use them again. Only had minor issues with the pc but it was new system growing pains that I easily ironed out

  7. Displaced metal on the IHS, Jay…scratches is accurate, but since you're in the business of tech and Cents, thought you'd appreciate the more technically correct term.
Thank you for the Jawa review. Hopefully this video encourages me to do business with them. I have used parts just taking up space…

  8. Jay are you sure it's 48 hours from the FIRST item delivery that you have to check for issues, or is it 48 hours from delivery of EACH item?

Considering you can buy from multiple 3rd party sellers it doesn't make sense for it to be such a short window for everything when delivery can be incredibly varied. I get what you're saying though, if someone doesn't have another PC to test things with they're kind of up the creek with no paddle.

  9. Hey Jay and team, I love watching your content and I really appreciate your non-bias view on well, everything. I'm disabled and on disability here in WI. If you ever are trying to donate or reduce inventory, I'd be willing to take anything off your hands so I can donate my old system to my son. I know you probably don't do this kind of thing, but I figured I'd ask. Keep making content so I can learn and stay educated about everything pc. Thanks again!

  11. To add funds to Luigi Mangione's JPay account, you'll need his inmate ID number and the facility where he's housed. As of December 11, 2024, Mangione is in custody in Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to New York. His inmate ID number hasn't been publicly released.
