Sadly, John's recently had a face operation to remove a cancer from his face/jaw. He's doing well, but as to whether he'll ever perform again, is unknown. As with most Aussie artists, live performances are usually better. Where to go from here is hard, only because you have so many options. Try his duet with another Aussie legend, Jimmy Barnes, singing "When something is wrong with my baby". the pair are known to Aussies as 'Farnsie & Barnsie'. The main guitarist is Jimmy Barne's brother-in-law, Johnny Diesel from Johnny Diesel and the Injectors.

As many here have said, always do JF live. 1 exception is 'Black Dog' there is only audio of this. This is Johns warm up song before a concert. Will blow your mind!

Welcome aboard the John Farnham bandwagon. He's much loved in Australia for his obvious talent but also his humble, down to earth personality. There's another performance of this by John where he starts the song using the Beatles arrangement then switches it up half way through. Really cool and worth a look if you have time. Another song I'd recommend is "when the war is over" (live Melbourne 2003). John is a bit older in this performance but he's certainly aged like a fine wine

John Farnham is very big in Australia, and is best known for the song 'You're The Voice', he is also known for his duet with Jimmy Barnes on the song 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby'. The studio version is great, but the live version is outstanding.

This cover by John was released in 1980 not 8 years ago. He kept his career and fame within Australia, because he didn’t want to be away from his family. He is a national treasure, we love him here “down under “🇦🇺👍🏻 he is the voice!!!!
This concert was in the 90s after a 2hr plus concert. The late John Lennon said this is the way the song was intended to be done. John can sing anything and over decades has many great songs. Queen asked him to be their frontman when Freddie passed away. Great reaction thank you.

The concert was in the 1980's. He did that after more than 2 hours on stage. Try him in his 50's, When The War Is Over from the Last Time Concert. I think it's better.

Absolutely the best live performer in the world ever. He doesn’t need props and silly costumes he just needs a microphone and his powerful powerful voice. We love him and he’s so very very funny and very humble. Very much a family man still with his wife after 50 years.

John had a young family & didn't want to have them growing up there. He chose to stay in Australia. He's been a mainstay in the Australian scene since the '60's.

John Lennon got to hear this arrangement before he passed and loved it. It is in the original time signature that john Lennon wrote it in but the Beatles were asked to speed it up for the Movie

They are 4 sisters from The Philippines with amazing harmonies.IN 2015 they auditioned for X Factor UK and the video of that audition has more than 187 million views on you tube. They have many covers and a few original songs on you tube, many of which are as good as if not better than the original.
That concert wasn’t 8 years ago, more like mid 1980’s.
However, not so long ago ( maybe 6 months ) at about 73 yo he was nearly as good as that.
Unfortunately, they have operated on his throat recently ( cancer ) so we are all waiting to know he is okay.

Why had you never heard of him? Because he is not American. With respect, Americans often only know about their own country and then only a small part of it. You said it didn't have many hits. that is because there are literally dozens of recordings of this same song at this event. I was going to write more about him but others have done that in these comments. I have seen him live in concert and he was faultless! Have fun looking up other Australian Artists. There are many world class musicians. Incidentally, John was singing "Help" at the conclusion of a long concert. One of my favourite Australian musicians is Guy Sebastian.
He was better live .the recording doesn't do him justice. An incredible person as well.
As everyone has said he's Australia's best. I never missed a concert, not just for his amazing voice but the happiness coming from his performances. I was lucky enough to meet him twice and you'd be lucky to meet a more humble and down to earth performer. I agree you need to hear Black Dog, his warm up song and When Something is wrong with my Baby with Jimmy Barnes.
