  1. It's a nice video, but did you also run the tests of the GoPro with a similar fov as the other cameras? Cause I feel that the GoPro would do a lot better as a dashcam with a narrower fov than you portray it.

  2. Gopro = overheat, how long would you even be able to run it for? Shame on Linus. I expect more from him. During driving, in most cases, if there is an accident, both parties involved will be present (won't need a clear license plate image) the video from any of these dashcams will be fine. During parking is when it's more important to be able to read plate numbers, I don't know anyone who leaves a gopro running in a parked car, I could be wrong. Great review. Thanks for spending the time.

  3. Blackvue is horrible. I've had button rattle issues and my wifi stopped connecting after 15months of use. No warranty on it either. I've always kept the camera shielded from sunlight while parking. LTT is wrong of course

  4. Here is the difference between you and Linus:

You are a scientist, and Linus is a YouTube entertainer.

Unlike you, Linus rarely uses empirical processes for his technology evaluations. I find his channel disconcerting.

  5. To help justify my recent U3000 purchase, the quality of the rear video camera should also come into play. One thing i can definitely say is the support i got from thinkware recently was truly great when i had a problem connecting with the camera from my phone. I really hope the HDR features can be improved with a future firmware update. I also love the super sensitive parking mode that even records people just walking past the front of the car. But all in all, a really excellent review.

  6. I don’t know how one channel can be so helpful with so many different types of products/projects that I’m interested in. This channel alone has got such useful info and reviews on networking, home assistant/ smart home setup, security cameras, robot vacuums, home theater, lighting, holiday light shows, dash cams, and more! And they are all intense comparison style videos too!

  7. All of you cameras are fool of s**t not one of the camera will ever be worth the buy as a dash camera because non of the do auto focus….
All of this cameras are set to record as a selfie mode or focus to 2 to 5 ft. So asking any of this cameras to capture a license plate at 15 ft away it's just plain stupid wish thinking… Just get a $600 handy cam …. That will be better than all of the above but… they don't have a wide view like 2.7 or lower so you are left with just plain garbage out there. If you are in need of a dashcam.

What are paying for? In really is the high tech features like auto parking mode, GPS, motion detection accident mode and all that crap that I can not even mention since I do not own any of this crap.

If you got the money to spend then your budget is you limit on any features you'll expect to have. But license plates will disappoint you spending. What ever that is.

  9. To be fair to LTTs video, their video was shot and came out before there was any dash cam on the market that used a Sony Starvis 2 sensor. LTTs video came out in August 2022 and Viofo's A139 Pro came out in December of 2022 AFAIK. Even before the big LTT drama, back when I saw that the Viofo A139 Pro came out I knew that their take was out of date. That's all it was though, out of date, not necessarily wrong when they made it. At the time they made that video, it was definitely true (you can tell even in this video because the difference between the go pro and the starvis 2 cameras wasn't completely night and day, but it is MUCH farther apart comparing the dash cams that use the Starvis 2 and the ones that don't.)

Despite the hate I'm going to get because people can't realize that not ALL of LTTs testing and analytics as they were presented were bad (even GN will tell you that) your video doesn't disprove what LTTs point was at the time they made the video. In fact, it kind of proves that at the time, dash cams kind of sucked with image quality compared to systems that were either dedicated camerasat atound the same price range, or could put a better camera and processing in because it was meant for other things and generally sold at a higher price (smart phones). However, the starvis 2 is a HUUUUGE improvement. Before the Starvis 2 I was quite literally using an old Samsung Galaxy S8 as my dash cam knowing that I couldn't really get a specific dash cam that beat it in image quality. Now I'm looking at getting one with a Starvis 2 sensor since it can keep up with and sometimes beat my camera, and I don't like having to deal with taking my "dash cam" out of the car all of the time, turning it on, not having a rear camera, etc… A dash cam would be much less of a PITA

That being said, people need to chill in general. Just because Linus said something doesn't mean you should go hate on someone who disagrees. If Gamers Nexus says you should orient your AIO water coolers one way doesn't mean you should harass everyone you see who has theirs oriented this way (especially when it's an AIO that has the pump in a different spot entirely. That was one of the dumbest moments for the collective PC hardware community.)

  10. Great vid, Linus made some interesting points on their dashcam vid but they left out alot of info & gave miss information like how some dashcams are great in heat like thinkware & has features compant that too. I agree i think blackvue has the best field of view i have the u3000 but i like the 900x plus view better. Also night4.0 on the u3000 is pretty bad like come on thinkware

  11. Why are there 2 amzn purchase options thru VanTrue. One $179 with $50 coupon then another $129 with install kit? Seems pretty self evident to get the bundle even if you don't plan to use the bundle kit right now.

  12. Parking Mode is huge! At least for me! U3000 may not have the very best video, as clearly demonstrated in this video, but it does have the most usable features when it comes to parking mode record, built-in radar, battery life, and OBD wireharness.

    Thanks for the great video!

  13. I recently got the Vantrue N5 due to its in cabin , rear, front facing cameras and the ability to open video from my phone. Kind of disappointed that the N4 pro did better in your tests since the N5 is the latest from Vantrue.

  14. Two thoughts. 1. Could you do a review of motorcycle dash cams? 2. Is the licence plate recognition particularly hard in the USA which has smaller plates with smaller text in black on white instead of the larger text in black on reflective yellow you get in the UK and most European countries?

  15. I'm surprised with how good cameras in phones are that they can't make more descreet cameras for cars. Seems like if they just put the brains in a different location you could nearly hide the frton and rear cameras.

  16. Vantrue is almost impossible to find right now, but I finally found one. Thanks for the great review. I agree that this looks like the best camera on the market today.

  17. Don't listen to LTT, which is just a comedy show now anyway, and not a real tech channel any more (I even unsubscribed after their last mess). But anyway, that was one of the best and well done dashcam review I was able to find on YouTube. Great work !
