Ukraine's plans to build nukes ‘within months’ leave Putin exposed | Hamish de Bretton-Gordon

“We’ve been knocking down Iranian missiles for Israel all year long. So why on earth wouldn’t we do the same for a Russian nuclear missile fired at Ukraine?”

A Ukrainian plan to build improvised nuclear weapons could leave Putin exposed as his own ICBM response is unreliable, especially if NATO intervenes, Former CBRN Commander Hamish de Bretton-Gordon tells #timesradio

  1. They were never a nuclear power. The ignorance and shear dumbness of you people is beyond pathetic. Those nukes belonged to Moscow where all launche codes were, Khazakstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan all had Soviet nukes in their territories but only the capital of Moscow was the brain and empire who had the codes to launch them I don’t see anyone calling for Uzbekistan to get the nukes back it was never theirs they could never use it

  2. Ukraine has probably has developed the weapons already or close to it.. and they have every right after Russia broke the agreement where Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons – fair play to them!

  3. My take is that the US and Europe think Ukraine will simply capitulate to whatever deal Trump/others want. UA have the right to use whatever means they have to push the occupiers out. This is the same line as what Russia expresses regularly.

  4. The Ukrainians gave up their nuclear weapons because the USA told them if attacked the USA would stand by them 😮 Clinton promised them if they gave them up they'd stand with Ukraine of course the USA word is worthless since TRUMP came to power in politics

  5. Not sure who this "expert" is, but he clearly knows nothing about this subject.
Plutonium extraction and reprocessing for weapons would require facilities that Ukrainian does not currently have, weapons grade Plutonium does not work in a "Gun Style Trigger mechanism" that would require Enriched Uranium, which again Ukraine does not have the vast industrial means to complete.
Plutonium at any enrichment containes PU240 which makes it impossible to use in a Gun Style weapon…..
Delivery of such weapons require more than a Drone 🤣 not with standing Uranium and Plutonium are the heaviest metals on earth, be it a gun barrel and or implosion system weigh any crudely assembled WW2 style weapons will weigh tons…..
It would more than likely have to be a ground vehicular system of delivery such as an APC or Truck.
This is not to say the Ukrainian's coule not produce a weapon, but certainly not by the means he is describing…..

  6. Ukraine should create her own nukes ASAP. I wonder if they would be uranium or plutonium bombs, how do you think?
Let's assume we speak about NUCLEAR (atomic: uranium or plutonium) and NOT THERMONUCLEAR (hydrogen) weapons.
Which element is easier to obtain? Which is easier to use? Uranium or plutonium?

  7. I admire Zelensky's move. It tells the West, help us with conventional means or WE WILL RESORT to EXTREME MEANS, which the west does not want so it will sorta force their hand. Now trump has to weigh abandoning UKRAINE over SUPPORTING them

  8. Regarding the quote "I'd tell Putin, if you don't make a deal, we're going to give them (Ukraine) a lot, more than they ever got! (Donald Trump 17 July 2023):”

It's sounding like considering giving Ukraine 🇺🇦 Nuclear ☢️
    Weapons was part of Trump's
plan all along to settle the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 on his first day as President. That would explain why he included Elon Musk (always rumoured to be involved in Nuclear Weapons technology) in his phone call 📞 just after the election 🗳️ to Zelenskyy! If Ukraine 🇺🇦 had Nuclear ☢️ Weapons back (they were taken away in 1994 in exchange for guarantees of "territorial integrity 😆"), that would insure that Russia 🇷🇺 wouldn't just turn around & attack Ukraine again if Democrats someday in the future returned to power in USA 🇺🇸!

  9. "Let’s be real here—claims like Ukraine developing nuclear weapons don’t just pop out of nowhere; they’re almost textbook examples of a disinformation campaign. Ukraine’s fighting for survival, scraping together every resource to keep conventional defenses running. The idea they’re secretly building nukes not only ignores reality but also tries to plant doubts in the minds of their allies, who might then start questioning where their support is going.

It’s the same old trick: throw out a big, scary claim, let conspiracy theorists run wild with it, and hope it divides people enough to weaken support for Ukraine. This narrative fits perfectly with tactics we’ve seen before—create confusion, stir mistrust, and watch the cracks form. Until someone provides hard evidence, this deserves to be called out for what it is: a calculated move to manipulate public opinion and undermine Ukraine’s fight for survival. It would be interesting to see the receipts, because right now, I’m not buying it."

  10. Starmer and Macron.. 😅 Ultimate losers betraying their electorate.. Still dreaming of that "Russian collapse" that their neocon controllers promised. Russia holds the moral ground for self defense from the Western cabal led political psychopaths. Today it enjoys backing from a huge majority of the world, not the Western led UN punch and judy show! The more the West keeps threatening, the more the World turns their back on them.. The UK is not a significant player in any aspect of major geopolitics (with perhaps the exception of a few nuclear warheads.. That tend to fall back on the submarines that launch them). The one major function of GB is the trillions of crooked corporate untaxed dollars/ Euros etc. illegally invested offshore by the City of London… That's what keeps the UK afloat and whatever nodding dogs are elected as a parliamentary leaders.
