Ukrainian troops survived a grenade being thrown at them from point-blank range. Troops of the 3rd Assault Brigade took part in the attack, to the south of Bakhmut. Intense first-person footage shows the squad of Ukrainians storming a Russian trench. Gunfire and explosions erupt around them as they battle their way inside. Once they get into the trench, a Russian soldier appears from inside a dug-out. The man hurls a grenade and the unexpecting troops from just a few inches away. Fortunately they get out of the way in time before shooting the man dead. His comrade then throws up his hands in surrender and is taken prisoner. The Ukrainians said three Russians were captured during the assault. More could have been saved but refused orders to give up, they added. In total, 12 were killed and another three wounded. The 3rd Assault Brigade are fighting to the south of Bakhmut. Their goal is to pin Russians in the city while their comrades battle in the south.

  39. The amount of adrenaline you will have clearing and fighting in trenches, dugouts and bushes would be astronomical! Learning about trench warfare/battling has always stuck with me through school. The coldness and the long days stuck in a trench fighting to the death or waiting for contact with the enemy with bombs and artillery going off all around frightens me to the core. I don't care which side you are on, if you go in to a trench you are a lot braver than I am and I don't want to experience that nightmare.

    I really want this war to end soon how many more innocent and young people need to die in this war until enough is enough? (Innocent as in the population, the people not involved in the war and the young people who were drafted in to a pointless war who may never see life again.)
