Dozens of retiring tanks will be gifted to Ukraine, preparing it for its next push to drive Russian troops out of its territory.
More than 40 soon-to-be-retired Abrams tanks will be sent over.
This becomes one of the largest single contributions of Western tanks to Ukraine since the war began.
The tanks were due to be retired next year, but the quality is said to be superior to those operated by Russia.
“These tanks will deliver more firepower and mobility to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and complement the support provided by our partners for Ukraine’s armoured brigades,” Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy said.
