Ukraine launches new offensive in Russia's Kursk region | BBC News

Ukraine has launched a counter-attack in Russia’s Kursk region, the Russian defence ministry says.

As officials in Ukraine also suggested an operation was under way, Moscow said it had met the attack with artillery and air power.

Ukrainian forces entered the region near the Ukraine border in August, seizing a chunk of territory.

Russian forces have pushed them back in some areas without managing to eject them entirely.

  1. Another strategically stupid move by Ukraine. So desperate to have something to bring to the negotiation table, that they are willing to lose elites troops and equipment that could be better deployed preventing Russia's soon to be completed SMO.If you cannot defend what you own how on earth can you capture and hold what you don't..

Ukraine transforming Into closed concentration camp for holding people for mass murders against will. Ordinary Peaceful civilian population want stop mass murders. In other word which between Britain and kremlin if all support Crimes against humane. Abolishe humane, human rights and conventions and freedom choice and peace and prosperity of ordinary people. Dystopia must be stop before worst. People want lives not endless murders. It's in psychology of civilian people and victims of agression. Example in Albanians in Kosovo Ukrainian population not deserve stop genocide?

  4. Another PR stunt that's ended up in a lot of dead Ukrainians. The Russians knew that this one was coming, Zekensky and his media marketing campaigns is too predictable now. Its pathetic that the BBC is still playing along with him. A sad end to a once proud British institution to have ruined its reputation on such garbage.

  5. Just watch the final press conference of the heads of state in Paris in 2019, where Zelensky simply grimaces and demonstratively smirks at the camera when Putin talks about fulfilling the signed agreements.

Watch, you might understand how much blame for the subsequent events is on the clown's hands. He spat in the direction of Russia long before the war, demonstratively, thinking that nothing would happen to him for this and that he would be protected anyway. Then he realized that he shit himself, and for three years now he has been driving people to slaughter just so as not to admit that the blame for everything is on him and his curators who used him.

  6. In April 2017, President Trump stated, "Today, I ordered a missile attack on the Syrian government airfield that was the base for the chemical weapons attack," and "There is no excuse for Syria's use of prohibited chemical weapons in violation of international law and its ignorance of requests to attend the UN Security Council." Meanwhile, Russian President Putin issued a statement, strongly criticizing the actions of the United States led by President Trump as "a clear act of aggression against a sovereign nation." What can be seen from these facts is that if Trump becomes president, he may return to his claim that "we will take strong action against nations that violate international law and the UN Charter." And now Putin is caught in the self-contradiction of committing the "act of aggression against a sovereign nation" that he himself criticized.

  7. Deep State maps Ukraine holdings in Kursk from 481 sq km at the start of the week to 440 sq km today. so its a reduction/retreat overall by Ukraine. Ukraine is still dominating at information warfare though
