The scenario of extensive trenches over all approaches will be the nightmare of invaders everywhere since today’s military technologies greatly limits airpower and tanks.
How can Ukrainians perform counterfeit-offensive if they are 24/7 busy with shoveling and entrenching? That's why they are stuck in the middle of nowhere with no clear prospects.
