UK warns Putin after Russian spy ship returns to British waters | BBC News

The Royal Navy has been monitoring a Russian spy ship after it entered British waters earlier this week, the defence secretary has told MPs.

John Healey said the vessel, Yantar, was used for gathering intelligence and mapping the UK’s critical underwater infrastructure.

He said the incident was β€œanother example of growing Russian aggression”.

Russia describes Yantar as an oceanic research vessel and it is operated by the country’s Ministry of Defence.

  2. πŸ˜‚ spy boat? If everybody knows it’s a β€˜spy boat’ I doubt very much it’s a β€˜spy boat’.

Clearly building a new narrative. Any sabotage that occurs will be by our own government. Unfortunately the sheeple still believe everything they’re told.

  4. Sorry but you are hypocrites. How many British intelligence assets are flying around Russias borders?! Huh?! How about British assets in the Black sea? You have no business being in the Black Sea. Your Empire ended 80 years ago.

  5. This what a empire in decline does, pics fights it should avoid. UK should have stayed out of Ukraine but it didn't, it mistakes that it still has the nave it did at the end of WW2. Putin is happy, all it took was a few broken cables and the operation cost of NATO went up many folds, it's expensive run a navy on war footing for extended period. Most NATO nations can't print Dollars to fund their expenses and blowing up Nord stream pipeline declared that under sea infrastructure was no longer a sacred cow.

  6. With each passing month, the Ukrainian military seems to get stronger and the Russian military seems to get weaker. Both militarily and economically, Putin, Russia and their people may come out of their sweet drug-induced euphoria with an unexpected and unbearable pain.

  7. Putin cites the persecution of the Russian population in Ukraine as the reason for this. If so, why didn't Russia follow the legal procedure of raising the issue with the UN Security Council, of which it is a permanent member? A Russian leader who has suddenly and unilaterally launched a military invasion of a sovereign state on a self-serving pretext and has been attacking and victimizing peaceful citizens for nearly three years. His crimes must be added to the various violations of international law other than kidnapping a toddler who is already on the international wanted list, including the issue of reparations.

  8. "Oi 'ave you got a license for that?"

No seriously – our police officers are armed with whistles and sticks. What, pray tell, are we gonna threaten the Russians with? Regulation and high vis jackets?
