  1. These people are obviously out of touch. I'm willing to bet none of these developers actually play games. They're looking at things from the perspective of a developer when you should look at games from a gamers perspective. Before you think about how nice these next-gen graphics are, how amazing it looks with RTX, how incredible the haptic features are. You have to make sure the game is fun.

    They tend to be too "cool" for my tastes.
    But i am curious to know, do players have to pay $ to turn the UI off in the game's microtransaction storefront? Thanks!

  3. They can’t pick problems with the actual gameplay or story only things tangentially related which are of opinion anyway like UI and “quest logs” (which never existed in from soft games)

  4. The last time Ubisoft got me interested in their product was they announced Beyond good and Evil 2 which has been stuck in development purgatory for what, 5 years now? With rumours regularly surfacing that it's gonna get cancelled. I want my cockney space chimps god damn it.

    Oh Ubisoft you are killing me… do you really still dont understand why your games suck
    FFS try to use the M&M franchise a bit for a change… try making dark messiah 2 or some RTS from heroes(sure as hell you dont know how to make a classics heroes game)
    the M&M universe alone can be used to make a game in almost every single game genre and you are making none!

As someone who isn't into RPGs and this being my first souls game if took me a few days to figure out why I'm so hooked on this…it's because this is the first game I can recently remember that I actually bought the game. No extra content, no special cosmetics, no year 1, 2 passes, no NFTs. I legit bought a game and get to play a massive game. Ubisoft is moving to Mobile game territory then gets upset when someone delivers a great experience without pushing MTX down your throat.

  7. i guess im not real gamer i suppose and sekiro is my first game from software and im not far at all cuz i suck so i dont have any idea about their control scheme and layouts in dark souls type games i mean i play SIMULATION RACING GAMES and once i played elden ring i never had thought in my head saying “hmm this should be easier, and more user friendly and stats over my screen” i just played along how the developers intended i still suck but im still enjoying

  8. 12:00 Sure you can play it offline… Still can't pause the game without completely quitting out of it. I've never liked it when games do that (as I like being able to quickly pause a game if something outside of it requires urgent attention) and it is genuinely one of the reasons why I am very hesitant on buying Elden Ring.

The first criticism i can agree with to a certain degree because playing with m&k( yes I am freak i play with m&k) souls game suck cause they don't show the ui key prompt of m&k ,they show only xbox button which is a major problem so you gotta press all the keyboard buttons to know what they do, but in er it let you show the options on menu if you press right click

  10. Five years after Breath of the Wild and these triple A devs have learned nothing.

    Only display crucial information. Do it in a diegetic way. If you can’t then make legible but not intrusive.

  11. Well let's be perfectly honest and admit that the menus are quite bad and annoying. Like always. Along with notifications that pop up on the screen that prevent you from making any button inputs until you dismiss that notification, even in combat. I don't know why they took so many steps forward with Sekiro and somehow made the Elden Ring menus into such a shitshow. Otherwise. . . best Fromsoft game of all time. I'm at work right now and all that I can think about is how much I want to play Elden Ring.

  13. Prince of persia warrior within, farcry 3, ac 2, black flag, best classics for me from ubisoft that standout. Most other games are copy paste or huge meaning less content

  14. People can criticize things. I just think this comes off like they're saying ER fans are too stupid to understand quality. It looks petty. As if they are entitled to the praise and money ER has made.

    Plus the opposite would never happen. The people of From Software wouldn't publicly criticize their direct competitors like Horizon.

  15. its true.elden ring just looks bad.i bought it on ps5 and was let down from the first moment of the game,the cave,graphics just terrible…ds3 looks better and i know cause i own it too.face it man,game is bad,i just enjoy horizon cause horizon is 10 lvls better ,just look at the screen man..

  16. The game is a work of art. As im playing through it makes me feel like the first time i played DnD. Every victory feels triumphant and earned whether its a boss fight or a dungeon crawl. Maybe devs should tale lessons on what people like instead of being salty about others success.

  17. Really shows how out of touch big studio development teams are. It's so bizarre to me that open world games have in a vast majority opted for an mmo ui and hud, which really detracts from the game imo. 115 hours in elden ring and I haven't needed a quest tracker once, but when the ui disappears because you're out of combat and your hp and fp are full, I get to just drink in the ambiance unimpeded. 115 hours and I still take a pause at every Vista just to enjoy the scenery. Not for a collectible, not for a quest objective, just for the experience of seeing the game from that new perspective.

Lol ubisoft… My user experience of AC Valhalla was getting bored when I realised it was basically go to this area, meet the local lord and befriend or replace them, get a bit more of the story, move on to the next area. The stealth seemed to be optional in favour of Viking raids and on top of that there's microtransactions, one of which is a map to show you where one of the collectables are. Oh and way too many dots to clear off the map, some of which were basically go meet an NPC, not even do a quest just find them and get some lore and move on to the next dot. I got bored of Valhalla after the first 3 or 4 areas. I played farcry 3 4 and 5 last year and they're all basically the same game, I imagine farcry 6 is the same game too. I enjoyed horizon forbidden west but again it's very similar to zero dawn, and ally talks too much, literally every time you find a puzzle "I should try using my focus", oh ya think? Just like the previous game, I don't need you to tell me to push the scan button every damn time. It also just comes across as them being salty because horizon only just came out too and more people are talking about elden ring

  19. Hilarious coming from Ubisoft, the company that releases the same bland, icon riddled, enemy camp clearing marathon open worlds. Seriously, Assassins Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs and Ghost Recon are essentially the same gaming experience with varying camera angles and combat abilities. The world, quest design, and side activities all feel the same.

  20. Elden Ring should be considered as a blueprint for these guys and if they had 1/3 of a brain cell they would notice it. The game is unforgiving and difficult to start (if you've never played a fromsoft game) and there are STILL people who never played any fromsoft games getting in on this one. It will probably increase sales of other soulsborne games as well since people are loving it, so, i reiterate, this game is a blueprint for game devs and these idiots can't see it. Serves them well.

  21. I'm loving elden ring so much. I know I've missed quests, and I cant wait to find them my next playthrough. Before this game, "open world" was a largely negative term for me. But elden ring is the best game of that genre I've ever seen. I'm not a dark souls player, I'm playing this game the same way I played skyrim. But this game is 20x better.

  22. I am yet to encounter a valid argument against this criticism. Even if these people work for companies that made bad games, those games got rightfully criticised for their faults. Yet Elden Ring isn't allowed to have the same?

    Like when you start trying to justify a lack of a fucking pause button you've lost the plot. Souls games are not special snowflakes. Other games do what they do without this weird refusal to accept critique.

    Imagine what would happen if Pokemon didn't change it's UI for 10 years. They'd never hear the fucking end of it. But fromsoft does it and it's suddenly fine! Change is bad when we say it is!

  23. PC graphics: Game looks gorgeous, she needs her eyes checked.

    Performance and stability: FromSoftware is a Japanese company and the Japanese market is almost entirely console and mobile; the vast majority of Japanese PC gamers are playing almost exclusively Western games because outside of MMOs Japanese dev companies don't do PC games. That means there is a very small pool of experienced devs for PC ports in Japan, and most if not all of them are already working for a company.

    Performance and stability varies from rig to rig, too. Also, Elden Ring's PC Metacritic score is 94. The 97 mentioned was for the PS5 version. Guess she was too busy being mightily offended that someone got praise for their game to notice.

    I would say that mockup-ed screen shot is more than a UI, that it does in fact show quite a bit of the UX as well. That experience being "go to this marker, do task, go to next marker" while using your magical sensor skill to find "hidden" things to interact with, all while trying to get you to shop at the in-game cash shop. And if you don't get enough pressure from the markers, then the character themselves will tell you what to do. I'm waiting for the day when the Ubisoft-style Open World Protagonist says, "I hear there's a special shop only I can access at any time. I should check it out," followed by a tutorial on opening the in-game cash shop.

  24. Seems like there is two different styles of open world now. The Ubisoft style and BOTW/Elden Ring style. The Ubisoft open world feels obsolete and plays like a mobile game compared to the new style.

    Ubisoft style is very handholdie and collection focused with using towers to unlock the map. Horizon falls into this category. Alloy keeps reminding the player where to go, what an enemy is weak to, and constantly talking to herself. The game almost plays itself. It doesn't trust the player to figure out how where to go, how to best fight or experiment.

    The newer style (BOTW/Elden Ring) wants the player to explore and discover how the game works for yourself. There is minimal tutorials; the PC doesn't constantly tell you what to do, what to explore, or how to attack enemies; and you're not bogged down with a thousand collectibles.

    The Ubisoft style feels like a mobile game. It wants you to grind for collectibles, upgrades, exp, materials and constantly reminds you to do so. The whole experience is padded out so you'll send time doing random tasks they want you to do.

    The BOTW/Elden Ring style wants you to explore the world and main missions at your our pace. BOTW you can go to the final boss as soon as you want. You can power through the story of Elden Ring as quickly as you want if you are skilled enough for the bosses.

  25. I ran into a npc I had met hours earlier in a random dungeon. It was such an amazing find! A moment filled with confusion, joy and a nice little prize for reaching the end of a death trap. It would have been unbelievably uneventful and bland had that surprise been ruined by a quest marker on where their next point in the quest could be found.
