A U.S. official says the American soldier detained in North Korea was recently released from the brig in South Korea. The soldier, identified as Travis King, was detained after crossing over the military demarcation line during a tour. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin has more.

Wtf did they do to him?
WTH is "The Brig"?
How could someone who is facing deportation from South Korea due to violent issues and requires legal action in the United States end up visiting the DMZ? So odd.
travis kang
Hes not a pawn let his dumb * STAY THERE
Good luck to him on staying alive and healthy. No need to negotiate for him. bye bye.
this US solider is the sacrificial lamb for what is to come the WW3
Leavenworth or North Korea? He chose this. Let us always remember that this was a person who betrayed their uniform twice and use the appropriate amount of resources to "save" them.
This Travis King why was he in Brig, what's his/their gender, and what's his ethnicity?
He is a person who truly knows how to repent of his sins.. I hope you are happy there.
Send in Seal team Six to get him out..
The real question is what did this soldier did and what punishment was he going to receive from the US military that make him decide going to North Korea was the better option?
Hope they keep him! Otherwise he would end up on our streets once he’s discharged. We already have enough riff raff.
Leave him there. I see NO reason to waste any time or money to get him back. He is obviously mentally ill and way too low in rank to provide them any information thats useful. Declare him a traitor and be done.
Do not spend any tax dollars to get this guy back. Let him enjoy his freedom in NK
This story is really suspect, So he escapes custody and somehow manages to take a 3 hour trip to the DMZ? Almost positive the air travel was out of Incheon (not Gimpo airport) but either way I don't see how he managed the travel without detection. And post PAN-pandemic, I'm sure last min seats are hard to find. The ticket costs $50 so that's not that crazy. Just allot of details the news (and the army) are leaving out on this. Because This is really gross misconduct of military police or this kid is 007 or something.
We need military school kids to lead these soldiers
Resolve what …let him there. Next 😒
I thought he was detained in North and returned. I didn't know he went from one into the other. What was he expecting? Better treatment?
Its very possible to unknowingly cross into north Korea.
Most Americans agree, North Korea can keep him.
Y’all don’t be talking junk, now… you know the soldier is a man of color
He’s more informed than the lady in jail In Dubai for yelling. He deserves to stay or get them both out. Stupidity of American in uniform (the garment worn for show)
A few years from now Hollywood is going to use this as a movie idea possibly calling the movie The Border of No Return.
He was in the brig for punching a South Korean national and damaging a police vehicle. Bet he’d accept going back to the brig compared to getting your arse kicked every day by North Koreans.
Leave him over there
Y let them have him
Well done solider, you chose the right side.
America is a better place with him in NK. Don't allow Rodman to fly on Kerry's private jet.
Dis she ask if it was a mistake?
So he was "escaping" to North Korea. Lol.
Not the brightest person on Earth. Don't bother trying to bring him back. He CHOSE to go there.
Now am I missing something here but how can someone be categorized as detained when they willingly knew what they were doing when they ran across the boarder?
