What does it really mean to deny yourself and take up your cross?

One of the most stirring images for me has always been seeing photos of long lines outside of recruiting stations whenever war had broken out. These brave men understood the grave threat of the enemy and were willing to lay down their lives to keep us safe and free. They denied themselves and took up their cross.

And there is that COURAGEOUS RESOLVE. They had absolutely no desire to think twice about their decision. It was a dire need! It was the right thing to do! Where do I sign up? I’M GOING IN!

THIS is our time! THIS is our battle! We are GOD’S CHAMPIONS!

  2. A large part of U.S. military recruitment is driven by the interests of politicians and corporations that prioritize financial gain over the safety and well-being of the American people. These decision-makers often push for foreign conflicts, not out of genuine national security concerns or humanitarian needs, but to benefit industries tied to defense spending, such as weapons manufacturers and private military contractors. The soldiers recruited become pawns in a larger strategy of domination, securing resources, and maintaining geopolitical power. This approach ignores the human cost, treating the lives of both American service members and civilians in conflict zones as expendable. Instead of fostering peace or protecting real national interests, it perpetuates instability and enriches those in power while ordinary people pay the price.

    You're being emotional and nostalgic over something that is inherently evil. I'm not referring to defending the country when it's genuinely under threat, but to being the aggressor—sending people overseas like lambs to the slaughter. Christ, on the other hand, loves His sheep and gives His life for them, unlike these war-hungry politicians who sacrifice others for their own gain.

  14. Arguing God’s word is sinful:
    In 2 Timothy 2:15-16, we are instructed to study and show ourselves approved unto God—but we are to shun profane and useless babbling, for it will increase more ungodliness. We are to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all else will be added to us (Matthew 6:33). Debating God’s word to carnal minds will get you absolutely nowhere (Romans 8:7). God will never reveal His mind to a deliberate stranger; neither will He hear the prayers of a deliberate stranger (John 9:31, Proverbs 28:9). Those who truly want to get to know God and His son will seek Him and His righteousness first, not the opinions of others. Amen.

  16. Father thank you so much for this mornings pep talk. Last night we attended a candle light service for one of the high school football players that our son coaches. He was killed in a car accident. Also the lady that hit them died. 5 players were in the car and the student driving ran the stop sign. Two boys of the five were hospitalized. One is in critical condition with brain trauma. He may be paralyzed. The driver needs much love and prayers. That now is my mission of prayer. Our son is bearing a heavy cross. Please pray. Thank you

  28. God bless you Father, for courageously, preaching Christ truth! I am outraged that our Church leaders have failed us. The majority of our bishops and cardinals should be ashamed of themselves. We have good courageous priests, holy men, who correctly preach the truth, helping to lead us to salvation. And yet our Church leaders not only stay silent and actively work to shut them up, but they also say things that are directly contrary to our own catechism. There will be a reckoning. They should be looking to their souls rather than their comfort.
