Large wildfires grow across New Mexico, forcing thousands to evacuate. Two fires that merged into one giant blaze torched over 100,000 acres. Now 4 million people in four states are under red flag warnings or fire watches.

Anyone wanna (fire) hazard a guess as to why the fires down here are so bad? // The fire started April 6 when a prescribed burn set by firefighters to clear out small trees and brush that can fuel fires was declared out of control. Thanks government!
Collectively, humans still do not care about our planet. Sad.

I want to know what fed gave the order on this prescribed burn. I'm willing to offer a cash reward to anyone who comes forward with his/her name.
why don't they ever show it from like 5,000 ft so I get a good perspective? these images show no reference points of the size
I actually live there currently. My office is located in the heart of the fire lines. The fire has been visible from my home since last Friday night. The smoke is so thick and winds so strong, new fires ignite as quickly as others are going strong. Many local businesses have been shut down for the past three days. No stopping this one anytime soon
I HATE conservatives. Every wealthy person is responsible for this. We should cull the wealthy, and use their wealth to fix the weather.
Man, I HATE every billionaire so, so much. I HATE every member of every board of every petrochemical company on the planet.
I cannot believe I am alive to watch the world die.
Horrible, humans need to start taking care of the environment
why do we even do planned fires just reach out to the community and say hey we need these trees cut down and use them for something other then burning them lmao
IF my brief research is correct, that combined fire is about half the size of New York City. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Car theft capital of the U.S..
Not the first controlled burn to get off its leash in New Mexico.
My family has land in Mora, New Mexico. We go camping there every year. We may have lost our 5th wheel that we had parked over there. I am more worried about those who lost their primary dwellings. Prayers for the fire fighters and the weather to change in their favor. Amen!
You should nuke WDC london berlin ottawa stockholm madrid milan paris moscow geneva sydney seattle. And call them racist italian mafia gold hoards that weilded tortured and killed untold numbers of civilians with hydrazine and phosphorus conspiracy while burning down North America Australia and the Caucus.

COMBATTING WILDLAND FIRES
A few years ago while working administratively for Bernalillo County's Fire and Rescue Department, in Albuquerque NM, I met a US Forest Service official at a New Mexico State Fair event for firefighters. During our conversation I suggested my idea on how to combat wildland fires. I gave this person my business card and two days later I recieved an email at BCFD from a Mr. Campbell from the USFS office in Washington DC.
Mr. Campbell indicated that he was interested in my concept and urged me to contact their Research and Development personnel in San Dimas, CA.
I requested and obtained permission from the department's fire chief to interact with the San Dimas USNF people. They liked my idea but wanted me to work my plan to incorporate their development standards. Their standards require little to no disturbance of the wildlife habitat.
My plan which remains incomplete calls for heliports to be built at the top of some mountains to facilitate the transfer of equipment and personnel during fires. The plan included the use of large trees to be used to accommodate zip lines to move personnel and material.
The heart of the plan was to build a network of cisterns (underground water storage tanks) that could be filled with natural runoff thereby creating an on site water supply with gravity flow.
In developing my plan, I had met with several of BCFD firefighters which are trained and experienced combating wildland fires as well as structural fires. They had great suggestions like adding a shelter next to the cisterns for firefighters, using pop up sprinklers on the cisterns to inundate areas where fires are headed.
The plan would be implemented to first protect community water sheds.
Places that have been devastated by fire recently should implement these cisterns and infrastructure before reforestation takes place and the wildlife returns.
The next project for New.Mexico should.be a water conservation project that incorporates the idea of the Waterman of India, Rajendra Singh. Singh, a Nobel laureate was credited with bringing back to life several rivers in India that had displaced 100,000's of people.
Agenda21, research it.
Any of New Mexico controlled burns that resulted in out of control wildfires 🔥🔥🔥 NEW MEXICO FOREST SERVICE, should be fired 🔥🔥🔥. Ur idiots u have personally destroyed lives, habitat, homes ,. Animals . Didn’t ur parents ever teach u NOT to play with matches??? ., Never do a control burn in March/ April..??? There is so much with NM, im a native. Still live in Alb ., completed a freshman year at Highlands Univ ., Las vegas ., this has left me scorching 🥵, hot 🔥MAD … NM Forest Service fire all head personnel NOW ,. .. this is utterly ridiculous., U Have Failed … 👎👎👎
If they would have raked their forests as trump advised, this wouldn't have happened…..disgraceful!
I know some people in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Some are enraged of what an idiotic plan to prescribe a burn when the spring winds are up to 80mph. The government might get several lawsuits if they don't replace the damage. I'm praying for the residence up there. 🙏🙏⛈️🌧️🌨️🌨️
Forest service is responsible for this disaster! They are Idiots!
Judgement is coming. Turn back to YAH and YAH only
This was a prescribed burn and it has been really dry and windy, the so called fire fighter's are now called "fire starters " the state is going to be paying out alot of money from the people who are going to sue!
Look at all of that lumber going to waste. Why can't NM, AZ and other dry states start lumber mills to clear 1/2 mile sections out of forests to protect them from devistation like this. It would also provide lots more lumber needed so badly to build new homes!
Now over 172,000 acres. Prayers appreciated, anyone who sees this. A firefighter sent out a pic of an elderly yellow lab someone apparently felt they had to leave behind inside the fire zone. The firefighter too had to leave the dog to perish because his priority and duties require him to. There are also some stubborn folks who refused to comply with evacuation orders. Please pray for all beings in this region, and visualize rain if you're a good visualizer. Today our winds in Taos are to gust around 60mph. The Mora Valley is/was so green and beautiful, an agricultural area where people love the land… with many homes and barns built lovingly by hand, sometimes by fathers or grandfathers… this is heartbreaking to so many people. (We in Taos have been spared so far if anyone is wondering, as of 5/9/22.)
This was planned by all the liberals for other nations to rebuild here. The Gov did it as she hates Americans. Same with CO Gov only he's a Comrade bent on destruction by fire and more. I thought CA would be the fertilizer state, maybe it was written for NM? Ash is gold.
Yep, started as a prescribed burn. You see, in fire abatement school, they don't teach about checking the weather report for wind conditions before starting a forest clearing prescribed burn.
Can't say i feel bad for those people, no sympathy, karma maybe cause they stole lands from indigenous tribes that are in region…..
I live in Angel Fire New Mexico and the hole town and sky is black and Orange pray
I’m so nervous living here in Taos. Sipapu has already evacuated. It sucks when it’s complete out of your control.
It’s so sad. Our family cabin in the Carson national forest might be a direct hit. Less than 2 miles out as of today. Been in our family since the mid 70s. A lot of my dads childhood took place there, along with hundreds of classic records, pictures, posters even a log book with a record of every time someone used the cabin. Really sad to see that it all might be gone in the next few days
Tell the deep state to stop doing this!!!
now over 200,000 acres

I live in New Mexico and every day smoke covers the mountains its tragic
No one is mentioning that animals are also in devastation, as well as cultural land and resources, this is important
I'm crying knowing that 600 million year old trees are burning in the remotest part of the country that not one human has ever touched or seen. RIP
I live in new Mexico actually kinda close to the fire tbh
Reported today that the fires were caused by a planned burn by the US Forest Service… wonder who Biden will tax to pay for this debacle
Help prevent forest fires. Advocate deforestation!
In wa state we just let the fires burn out to get rid of old dead growth fuel ..N mexico needs to not depend on government money but let the dangerous fuel on the ground burn OUT
Someone or people are setting these fires,
Sad someone left a horse in the Gila Forest by McKnight cabin last year and it must of died in fire
