On Sunday, July 7, New Zealand’s west coast was fired into action with a very decent mid to long period WSW swell. With its arrival came a lot of lumpy, short period energy generated by strong onshores in the near Tasman.
Wind conditions on Monday were calm but the solid mix of swell remained confused and wobbly. Thankfully one more night was all it took to pass and by Tuesday morning we were left with the clean longer period lines that were still packing plenty of punch. To top it off a nice big high had parked over the country bringing clean winds for two days of epic winter waves along the North Island west coast.

Love this region! I also love the "no camping" sign to make sure the spot doesn't get ruined by freedom campers
